The more I think about it, the less I think the whole six-hour malarky is an oversight leading to a major plothole.

Ocean included the "Oh, that's a six hour drive away" in chapter 3.5 and kept it there throughout all the reworking prior to the release of Season 1.

Given that Ocean is obviously more intimate with and focused on the story that any of us are, I just can't see this particular text remaining unchanged in the game unless it will make sense sometime in the future. Otherwise, why not simply change one or two words in that sentence? Ocean had more than enough opportunity to retconn and align all this before the release of Season 1.

Time will tell, I guess...

Just keep in mind he has a suggestions channel on discord for people to give feedback for things he's overlooked. And keeping things the same size has not been his strong point. I can see him leaving it, because he had a million other things to get ready, and it fits his goal for a long car trip with Amber.

I understand why he wants the cabin far away (regards Amber), but two hours drive would be enough. Lets say Amber wants the visit to occur at the same time as it happened back then, that requires an overnight stay anyway. Or they get caught in an autumn storm, because summer's gone, suddenly Amber has a new see through blouse, decides to pull into a motel. It's super easy if it's closer to still serve that purpose (we assume the Amber trip is all about that kind of event in some fashion).

It's not that it can't be bent and twisted to fit, but it doesn't need to be so ridiculously far.

Also, as much as I'm nitpicking, I love the game. The list of things I find hilarious/ridiculous is a very minor set smaller than the set of things I find awesome about the game.

Just make the lake bigger and put the cabin on the other side. Why should only boobs get bigger but the rest of the world stay the same size?

In all seriousness there's lots of great inconsistencies, but if we had updates more regularly, we'd miss half of them, getting out heads around the new scenes. I'm still going to have a go at Ocean for the distance to the cabin. It makes no sense. We'll see if he fixes it, but it's unlikely. I'll just continue laughing about it, just like Rnasc will find the lack of cat scratches hilarious every time.

After the remake , rewrite and retouches , the story has been taking a nose dive with all the inconsistencies .
and at this point it will not surprised me if the revelation to what happened to Summer is something lackluster .
"just imagine the scene all moody just with little sunlight coming from the window , Mc sitting in the dark part of the room and Elsa/Amber holding Mc hand , telling him ! , Summer took off to italy because of a better schoolarship !"

if it is a 6 to 7 hours drive ......... how the hell Summer and Mc got there ? , being that they were just kids !.
and let's remember that Nami spoiled MC and Summer love making session by calling officer Laverne , because Nami didn't want the MC to get into trouble , so the cabin should not be far enough from where Mc and Nami used to live.
and we know that they used to live on the west side of the city , so still not far enough!

Trying to get my reacts back still.

It's not a major plothole, just like Mila's shapeshifting isn't a major plot hole, or the cat scratches. It's just something that undermines how well he's conveyed emotions elsewhere and how well he's placed people as rumour gatherers etc.

I'm forbidding myself from speaking further on this today though, everyone's had enough of my OCD I'm sure. Re-read (if you can dare yourself) what I've mentioned to answer why it's the same one.

We still don't have confirmed release dates, but the next devlog will hopefully give us some indication of how close we're getting. Ocean's still doing still renders for both games, and there are animations to deal with as well. In Wiab's case, there will be the steam hold ups.

Current (optimistic) guesses are March for Wiab and mid-year for SG. I strongly doubt anything this month.

Also, a 15 year old can't go faster than a car for 6 hours on a bike. Nami and Noji's confirmation of the cabin (Nami by calling Jane, Noji by asking if AMber really means that cabin) confirms Nika's story enough.

Can't be, because of the lake, currently a 15 min walk or thereabouts, which if they walked from their old house, they wouldn't walk further than an hour, especially as they talk about the beach being on the bus route, and the surfing thing with Zara, saying the beach is close... so at best the lake would be between the two houses, in walking distance from either, putting the cabin at least 5hrs 45min from the lake still.

4: A sensible solution - the cabin was simply where NIka and Summer ran away to and is only known to Nami and Noji after Jane finds them. But for Nika and Summer to run away jsut to have alone time before SUmmer's family vacation, they'd choose somewhere closer. 6 hours at 60km/hr by car (conservative, based on slow roads, mountains etc), 360km, which at 5km/hr hiking, would be 72 hours. I'm sure they could find somewhere for alone time closer. Take off maybe 2 hours most for the walking distance between the potential old home and the new one, we're still at 70hrs of hiking.

Personally I want to know Nika's diet or the suplematation that he uses. My boy went from noodle harms to having a pack, even his jaw got more defined. The sprayhair also would be nice.

I think you misunderstand what I meant - it is to do with the dream and what he tells Amber. From these we believe that Nika and Summer "walked" to the cabin, hence the six-hour drive conundrum. What if Nika has so far been an unreliable narrator and they did NOT simply walk to the cabin from their homes? Nika/Summer hiding out/going to somewhere so far away doesn't preclude Nami knowing the location.

To me, there is only three ways out of this conundrum:

1. Nika is an unreliable narrator and there is more to what we've been led to believe about "walking" to the cabin.

2. Nika/Nami/Nojiko previously living "out west" was actually some six hours drive from their current location. This presents it's own set of plotholes due to Nojiko's work (a six-hour commute?) and Schrödinger's lake - an interdimensional body of water that simultaneously exists in two locations six hours drive apart.

3. Ocean deletes the whole "six hour drive" reference from Season 1. I suspect he has a reason to make the distance so long (time-wise) because of what he has planned for the Amber/Nika cabin visit. For example (spitballing here), if, for some reason, Amber/Nika have to stay at a motel overnight on the trip, that's more plausible over a six-hour drive than a 30-minute drive.

I'd say there's a fourth way but it kind of links into the first point and is my own crazy theory (likely full of holes) - Nika and Summer were abducted and taken to the cabin. He's suppressed or altered his own memories to some point and remembers it as walking there. Something bad happened at the cabin (Nika stabbed and left for dead/last time he saw summer/etc) and Officer Laverne headed up the rescue mission. But to Nika, he remembers it as walking there and spending time with just Summer before she 'vanishes'. To me, Nami and Noji's reactions when they refer to things like the Violent Incident or are cagey when talking about how Summer vanished.

If even a fraction of that is close to the truth, the Amber visit could be quite a brutal piece of story telling if Ocean can pull it off

I really hope that when Where it all Began releases on Steam, Ocean only focuses on Summer's Gone for the time being.

I think SG gets more than enough worked on. WIAB got completely dropped and fucked when SG was going on Steam.

I have to agree with Mr. helmet on this, the prequel should have more priority, to avoid future continuity problems in SG.

While it has true to that, I don't think of them as "prequel" or "Sequel" anymore as but two chapters of the same story. That at some point will come together.

Interesting theory! It's as valid as any other. I agree that Nika's memories, particularly in his dreams are not all they seem. At this point, "The Cabin Incident" (Nika/Summer at the cabin) and "The Violent Incident" (Nika requiring hospitalization for severe injury) are spoken about like they're two separate incidents.

The problem with any reveals during Amber therapy is that Nika already decided to bullshit Amber because (a) he was protecting Cheeto, and (b) he knows Bella reads Amber's clinical notes on his file and wants to mindfuck Bella. While Nika has apparently resolved to come clean on (a), we don't know if he will continue to BS because of (b). Added to that, we don't know exactly what BS Nika has told.

He doesn't need to prepare the first release on Steam, the graphics and plot in the first chapters correspond to the rest of the chapters of the first season. The money from the release has already been earned. I don't see any reason why he should change anything.
