You brought out a very good point for the reasons why it makes sense to present these two games step-by-step simultaneously, that I've never thought about.

Now I have a gut feeling that this has been Ocean's master plan from the very beginning exactly for the reasons you named here.

Initially he hoped that he could rely on Regium to be able to work on SG while he's working on WIAB himself and he's been working on both games since that hope failed, with this simultaneous presentation of both timelines step-by-step being one of the main reasons for pushing himself like that.

Sure, it may be good to switch between the games to avoid burnout and it would certainly be a shame to drop either of the games even temporarily to work on just a single one, but THIS is actually one of the main reasons that he's been keeping to himself - to keep the players of SG as blind about the past as Nika and the players of WIAB in the dark about whatever may happen in WIAB before the SG timeline starts, that may be revealed by SG.

I don't believe it's a master plan, but it's an unintended benefit. Think of it like this - imagine in the future when both games are complete, how would anyone play them in the order of development? The only way would be to have WiaB and SG set within the same game and done as flashbacks/flashforwards. Otherwise, unless I play 2 chapters of SG first, I'll be out of sync with the dev progress.

THere's definitely a meta-narrative, otherwise the games wouldn't be set in the same world, with some of the same characters. As far as Ocean's development goes, we can see the links - Donna appears in Ch2, Reveras are mentioned in SG in Ch4.5. Who didn't get a wow moment seeing Emilio appear without tatts or facial hair as a non gay non barber? (Maybe he becomes that from how he survives prison? or joins a gang for the tatts?) The point being is that OCean is thinking of both games while making each of them right now. I'm happy for the unintended benefit, it's like Dali's Persistence of Memory.

The history of WiaB pre rework shows us that there was no master plan in the development - Ocean got model upgrades and noticed that the characters looked so much better that miru wouldn't need to make people's eyes bleed. So now we're here, and I'm enjoying the link ups as Ocean's thinking about the scenes in a leapfrog manner due to co-development.

Edit: I should also say, now that it's happening in this way, and since WiaB's patreon got nuked, he's had to think about the meta narrative more concisely, and keep the games mysteries from impacting each other. That's had the effect of OCean keeping his cards close, and we get to wonder how it fits. It's an absolutely great mechanism, but I see it as fortuitous rather than as a plan, Ocean finding his feet between the two games after all the dust settled from the reworks. Now, he might actively be using that mechanism, or it's just a consequence of working on the two, things about scenes stay in the surface of his mind and he cross links stuff.

Dude, the problem isn't WiAB, the problem is that Ocean has no responsibilities! It's simple, the guy preferred to spend 2024 without any news in SG and then to fool us "I'm going to release two updates in one!" There are devs who deliver 3k renders 2/3 times a year.

Then you get to the point where "but if it weren't for WiAB he would have already delivered", well if we take into account that he has about 9k renders in SG, that would be 3 updates per year and still he has WiAB with SLA, 4k renders? Well, WiAB isn't slowing him down at all!

WiaB is the one that suffered limbo, but hang on - his WiaB patreon got shut down in what, October, November 2023? How many devs have continued after their patreon got nuked, and how many gave up? The games being on separate pages for once worked in Ocean's favour. Do you think he just watched his WiaB patreon get nuked and went "oh well, shit, time to render more SG, can't deal with that now"?

By the time May comes around, it'll be a full year since Ocean released the last version of SG, and he intends to have 10k - 11k of still renders between the two games, plus cinematics. IF he makes it in time (bad track record sure), he's doing as fast as your anonymous devs doing 3 x 3k releases a year. We just don't get our SG fixes 3 times a year, so all you're saying is you, personally prefer smaller releases more often ...but you've read the devlogs right? The NEWS is that Ocean will be doing smaller chapters after this, because he's realised it's way too ambitious and patreons get distracted by other shiny things if they have to wait too long.

Probably some kind of legacy variable, I don't see it being used or changed in any way, it's just initialized. And it looks like it was never used. I think it was intended to be something related to the date with Bella.

Yes, the story didn't advance at all since november 2023 and I don't like S1 full as well. Older scenes were better.

Well, I'm seeing a lot of my list of games get abandoned after patreon reviews, and few have gome back from the dead. It's a definite thing. Maybe these games didn't have devs who were commited to seeing it through anyway, who knows? But the attrition rate for ren'py/daz rendered games is pretty high, mainly because they look more real to the censors.

Ocean's kept developing both games, while I see others that got suspended later (that I felt had great potential) get the abandoned tag. All things being what they are, I'm just hanging out for the next update for both. Being upset about the time taken doesn't speed anything along.

I liked the game so far, there are some inconsistencies here and there but the overall story is amazing. The mc is a good character but needs a comb, like badly. Even though S1 isn't short it still felt short, lol. I'm excited for more to see. Regarding Nojiko, at first I was excited to see scenes with her and MC but at story went on and we got to know them better, I feel like it would be a bit weird if we got a scene now. I'm not opposed to it but their relationship is like a real mother and son relation and plus she seems to be happy with Nick (he is actually a decent guy). Why did the dev make her so hot

Also I don't know why but I'm not to keen on mc moving with mila and cheeto. I feel like it would've been better if He stayed with Nick or in their old house then again I'm not a very big fan of mila (bella best LI for MC!). I also enjoyed the book club plot, apart from hot milfs, the plot was also intresting. That's about it 8/10 so far, I hope he takes his time with the summer plotline

No, I don't forget Noji, but Nika has enough paths (even if I want Maja or Ayua, I will deal with it) that Nika doesn't need to steal Noji from him on my playthrough.

I'm also curious to see if Ocean will write a good wholesome story for her and Nick if we leave her alone. That'd really break the mould.
