Why is Ocean doing post work now when he not even done rendering the 2300 + renders that is still needed for S2 chapter 1? I guest since post work is being done now it will shorten the time necessary for release once all renders are done. At least he prioritizing animation now since that tends to be a major bottle neck at the end of updates for most devs.

He probably meant WIAB, not SG. At least according to his devlog 2 weeks ago.

Yo,

As mentioned in the last log, I focused mostly on postwork for about 10 days and finished 2900 renders for S2 Chapter 1.
I made about 60 still renders and I’m half done with the cinematic. Usually I leave cinematics for last, but I was feeling it. (You can do Blender while they test render.)

Render count is still around ~5160 stills

I contacted two musicians, sadly one already declined (Reasoning: lewd game) and I’m still waiting for a reply from the other one.
If a deal happens, Chapter 1 gets another cinematic… A really cute one.

Soon SG gets 100% priority. I thought I would already be there by now but I'm not. Soon tho.

Chapter 2 restructuring.
I rewrote-, well restructured Season 2 – Chapter 2. I had an idea for bigger gatherings. Be it the book club, parties or other occasions where a lot of characters get together.

I like it… You’ll see it in Chapter 2. If it works out as I imagined, I’ll implement this structure into some other gatherings too. (No, it’s not free roam.)
I'll be looking forward to some feedback when we get there.

Mental health and what Blender has to do with it.

If you don’t care about an in-depth view into my retard-mind, you can skip this part. Take a stop at the Blender previews, enjoy a cig and a soda.

Over the past two to three months, I had an unprecedented mental health decline. A week ago, I would’ve said it came out of nowhere, but I figured out what caused it.

Me creating two giant updates at the same time did play a role and it put a lot of pressure on me, but the main culprit was something I did in December/November…

I put Blender on ice.

See, I could do this kind of work until I die. All the rendering... The writing... I love it.

However, maybe it’s my ADHD but I need some novelty here and there… I need problems slash challenges or I start changing bodies. (My theory is that this is a result of it. Lol.)

About two years ago I stopped having big accomplishments in Daz.
I’d say I know what I’m doing and there’s not a lot of growth left. (In the areas I care about.)
I still experiment in Daz, but it almost never goes anywhere because my experiments have become… insane.

I have created abominations in Blender… Lighting setups that I port over to Daz that look like entities from another realm… Cosmic horrors straight out of a Lovecraft book.

Huh... Now I wonder... Who would win... Halo's flood or the WH40K's Tyranids?

... Back to the topic.

Years ago, I talked about hitting the ceiling in Daz, and now it's more prevalent than ever.
I need input to increase output. I need to learn. I need to get frustrated with issues.

Last week I fried my brain with hours of postwork and thought… You know what, let’s start up Blender and port Sasha from scratch on the new Workstation.
And I was greeted by a fucked-up rig, eyes bulging out, wrong/weird modifiers. The whole deal.
I was intrigued… and I went down that hole.

Some of you might remember this Blender render:

My plan was to make a whole little treat set of it but I encountered a bug that I call ‘The Blue Horror’… A bug that would never be fixed.

One way to fix this issue was to use a custom built Blender version, however it took almost 2 years for one to come out that changed certain values in Blender’s source code.

So I was stuck on Blender 4.2 until someone modifies a new version and uploads it. Doing it myself was… yeaaah… That required some knowledge I didn’t have. You have to install Nvidia Cuda and Optix, otherwise your GPUs won’t work. On top of that, you can only use certain versions.

Long story short: I woke up. 17 hours of frustration. Pure flow state. Food optional.
I did it. I learned how to build my own Blender versions, modify its source code and implement all the stuff that is needed for a fully functional experience.
Then… Sasha.

No more pre-build rigs for easy access… I wanted to suffer and learn.

So, time for ARP (Auto-Rig-Pro) and I have no idea how many hours I spent on it, but by the end I had a fully functional rig.

I rigged the eyes from scratch. The whole deal. Result? Sasha is now crosseyed. Back to the drawing board. A natural gaze was needed. I started from the beginning 15 more times until it worked. A natural gaze. On top of that, I used drivers to create a harmonous dance between the eyes and the eyelids.

In Daz, Genesis 8.1 and upwards got this functionality. But 95% of my characters in Daz don’t have that. Their eyelids don’t react to eye movement.

0.5 eye_rot on Y and that stuff worked.
It gave me a lot of ideas for the use of drivers…

A person bends over and shape keys with a custom sculpt that I would do in Blender would gently activate and form a tiny bit of a belly to mimic real life… Penises who’d react in a certain and precise way.
Soft body simulation is also a way to do this, but I want to see what I can create with some precise Zbrush sculpts, shape keys, drivers, and some coke light.

So many ideas...
Then I jumped into some animations… Boobs first. Jiggly wiggly. Works. Looked pretty good.

I do have two mini goals… Both are technically cinematics… The first one is much shorter than the second and it will combine a few different aspects that are essential for my cinematic approach... and what I want to become.

But I still need to find a solution for one slight problem… Wait… While writing this I got an idea.

Animation layers that ease in like offset stairs while keeping a linear key mode… I have to try this over the next days.

Mental health and motivation are back on 100%.
I’ve come to the conclusion that to a degree I need challenge and novelty. I need complex problems that elevate my daily work. I need the accomplishment.

And with Blender it’s like… I always leave a session with more knowledge than before. I can ride this high for days and my creative output is so much higher.
I don’t think I would’ve “actively” noticed how heavily I drive on this without the two behemoth updates.

Usually, a release gives me that feeling of novelty and accomplishment. Or coming up with a new cinematic and getting the music for it… That feeling is amazing.

Maybe I talked a little too much about Blender and my ‘experiences’ with it and I should’ve saved it for an actual Blender log… On the other hand, these are my dev logs and I write whatever I want. People can skip what they don’t want to read.

However, I gathered that most like the more in-depth dev logs. (The Blender logs will be your nemesis.)

I do have screenshots of the whole Sasha procedure that I'm saving for the Blender log… I swear it comes out eventually, but not before the release.

He just reached 5k renders NOW! He's messing with season 1, which he himself said he wouldn’t touch anymore, and he's rewriting chapter 2. Good thing I don’t support this guy, because I’d be pissed to be made a fool of!
  • Bolo Rosa is an example of a dev—he’s simply going to wait until the game is finished to redo the chapters from the first season of his game, while Ocean took 5 years to finish a season with disappointing content!

Dude promised Season 2 in Q4 2024, but we already know that the release will probably be Q3 2025. At this rate I'll start to defend the topic to end WIAB production and just focus in SG. Moreover, WIAB/SG voting in SS was in the middle, so this game is not financially good for Ocean.

Im not one to be overly optimistic but i feel we are just complaining to complain here. Hes finishing WiAB CH 4 first and we been knowing this so ofc there won't be as much progress or a release date. He said he was resrtructing what he was planning in S2 Ch2 so no real affect there. Once WiAB gets released then you can come back on the actual progress being made. At least he sounds more optimistic than last dev log.

Trust me i agree with how long both have taken and the excessive size and over promising is well noted. I was just pointing out that we dont need to complain about stuff weve already known about, at least there was nothing about taxes and stuff this time.

But it's a loop, brother, one dev log is blender, another is taxes, then he blames the cat, then it's a health problem. He stays in this loop but he doesn't have the balls to admit that he messed up, he doesn't apologize for the delay.

Don't believe everything Ocean writes, in most cases he writes it to milk Patreons. Here's an example.... post-processing is done in Photoshop to improve the light and shadows and make the image more realistic. This is done to create photorealistic renders, but we all know that Ocean does not make photorealistic renders, on the contrary, he makes them worse with the help of blur. Moreover, this is not a quick job and if Ocean decided to do photorealism and process 2900 renders, then it would not be possible to do it in 2 weeks.

There are people who call compression and cropping of renders also post-processing. But this case does not suit us either, because if you take all the SG and Wiab renders, this is about 10,000 pieces, if you crop and compress them all, it will take no more than 3-4 hours.

The only mention I can see of seasion 1 is a typo on the season 2 ch1 preview. If you notice, it's the same outfit we see vic wearing in all the S2Ch1 previews. He's not touching season 1.

Dev can rewrite as much as they need for things that haven't been released. Calm down with that. Most devs I know only have storyboards or vague plans before starting a new chapter, half the time the renders inspire the dialogue and vice versa.

I am also wishing for a game to play, but it's not there. The last two devlogs of WiaB explain why his SG render count isn't increasing. He's trying to push WiaB out like an overdue baby (preganancy fetish anyone?)

I applaud OCean for starting postwork on SG while waiting for WiaB things to complete. I don't applaud the time, but are you going to pedal faster so his WiaB renders and workload complete faster? No?

I thought pirates should be cool and chill because they're getting all the booty. Tomorrow's booty is tomorrow's problem. Go find yourself some other booty today. :coffee::)

Oh and Blender Sasha is a huge step forward from previous creepy blender Sasha. Massive improvement. Blender will be a good thing, I see more devs are trying to pivot towards it. It'll mean a better game in the end.

And with Blender it’s like… I always leave a session with more knowledge than before. I can ride this high for days and my creative output is so much higher.
I don’t think I would’ve “actively” noticed how heavily I drive on this without the two behemoth updates.

Usually, a release gives me that feeling of novelty and accomplishment. Or coming up with a new cinematic and getting the music for it… That feeling is amazing.

Maybe I talked a little too much about Blender and my ‘experiences’ with it and I should’ve saved it for an actual Blender log… On the other hand, these are my dev logs and I write whatever I want. People can skip what they don’t want to read.

However, I gathered that most like the more in-depth dev logs. (The Blender logs will be your nemesis.)

I do have screenshots of the whole Sasha procedure that I'm saving for the Blender log… I swear it comes out eventually, but not before the release.

But it's a loop, brother, one dev log is blender, another is taxes, then he blames the cat, then it's a health problem. He stays in this loop but he doesn't have the balls to admit that he messed up, he doesn't apologize for the delay.
I'm going to LMAO if Ocean doesn't put out anything this year and just keep making excuses. If a man is spending money on a woman in hopes of sleeping with her and weeks and months go by and still she hasn't slept with him but he still spends money on her, what would you call this man ? thats Ocean and his Supporters and a lot of Devs and their Supporters. but we all can't learn from others people mistakes we have to learn it ourselves so keep on supporting maybe you will get what you want someday.:unsure::coffee::p
