Oh, I haven't played where it all began. Guess it's mandatory to play that for SG. Thanks
They are being developed concurrently, usually with alternating chapter releases. We are expecting a WiaB release in the next couple of months.

Be warned though, it will have you wondering who in SG is related to whom in WiaB.

So the biological parents put their children into her care, to raise for in indeterminate period of time. Sounds like the definition of adoption to me. Maybe it wasn't done through the legal system, but it fits the definition to a T.
So every friend of a family who stays for a while with children while their parents are away adopts them? That doesn't work like this. Whatever it might look like - there is not a word about adoption anywhere in the game.

Don't get me wrong, I won't be surprised at all by any absurd decisions on the part of the content distribution platforms, for example they can decide that if a guy doesn't explicitly ask a girl before sex - whether she is of sound mind and agrees to sleep with him without any coercion - then this is a forced sex and should be banned.
Also, at least one parent of Nika is still alive, they've lived in Wollust the whole time, so those are out.
Nah, Nika being a Willie's or Leia's son is a red herring.
We know that they are no longer deemed step-siblings, but the story was conceptualised and released as them being that. No amount of obfuscation will change the fact that Nika and Nami were, by definition, adopted by Noji.
There is no obfuscation there is a change of the original story. There is no fact about the adoption in the game now. As well as Nika didn't put a gun to Marla's head. That didn't happen in the current game.
It probably is likely they were placed in Noji's care for their protection. With William likely being Nika's dad, the gangs likely started targeting people close to Leia because she started stepping on her business. We don't know yet why Nami, who is likely Daphne's daughter, was placed there too.
Speculation upon speculation. None of this was explicitly stated in the game. Sure, you can believe it, but don't be surprised if it turns out to be wrong. :KEK:

Wo Wo Wo. I have played the game a long time ago, and thought to myself to give it another playthrough before the next update is "probably" dropped in near future. So I decided to read some comments in the thread to see what's what. I DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT A CULT OR GANG BUSINESS OR NAMIS DAD??? What's that about?
It depends how long was that long time ago. :KEK:
If the last time you've played Nika was waving a gun before Marla's face - many things have changed since then.

The cult and the gang originated from WiAB - now WiAB and SG are more closely connected, but nevertheless, there is no indication in SG that Nika and Nami are somehow connected to this. Everything I wrote is just an example of an explanation made up in a minute from my head as to why they live with Noji, but she did not adopt them.

If the child is left with the friend, for an extended period of time (in the Cyrus' case, 15 years) with no financial support or communication with their child...

Wasn't SG announced as being in the "Zane-universe"? Wouldn't make sense for Ocean to reveal that, only for you not to be playing a Zane

As I've said, the fact that Noji took in two kids and raised them for fifteen years by herself, with no input from the parents cannot simply be waved away as "it's not adoption, because the script doesn't say it anymore".
Actions speak louder than words and Noji's actions are those of a parent.

I always just assumed Noji was their legal guardian, if you're not playing with the i-mod. Noji behaves like their parent because she functionally is one, but that doesn't necessitate her legally or biologically being so. MC and the Cheeto could just be her wards.

The whole reason "adoption" was removed from the script was there was to be no blood relation or legal relation between the three, as incest (even step-incest) breaks Patreon's ToS.

Considering a legal guardian is court appointed, that might be a flimsy enough legal relation for Patreon to deem it a violation. You'd have a legal parent and two "wards", which sounds an awful lot like a family unit.

Oh. Didn't know even adopted-incest was against Patreon rules either. If thats the case, then yeah, legal guardian probably wouldn't work either. Its really just court-adoption after all.

But also, legal guardian doesn't have the same impact as "parent/mom/dad", and it gives that sense of there being a wall between the guardian and ward that isn't familial. Maybe thats enough. I dunno.

Anyways, that was a useless tangent. My bad.

In 2024.

Even me, with my complete lack of imagination, can come up with several retcon explanations why Noji, Nami, and Nika live together without being related to each other. It may seem far-fetched or implausible to some, but then again, who cares. People are perfectly fine with Spiderman or House M.D., even though both are pure fiction that can’t stand any serious criticism. As long as people like the story and the characters, they’re willing to suspend their disbelief to the maximum.

"but we all know the truth" - It's a fictional story in the making and the author is known for changing it on the fly. We know shit.

Well. I remember the gun scene at the start being removed. I have played the last update, the moment it dropped.
