since this is the only site that seems to support free speech and dissent (mostly) i just would like to say that one issue i don't see really talked about is that the camgirl stuff is weird, borderline soapbox messaging, and damages fundamental messaging of the game. nia is one thing, from minute one she goes from "oh i remember you from school. anyway, man i wish your sister would choke me while she fucked me, look let me show you, oh fuck me mommy", so you within 3-5 blinks can go "ok you a crazy ho".
dating her and saying "i'd like to get to know you but i'm not comfortable with you doing cams while we're dating" isn't an option, i mean ok, i guess if you tried dating someone on the red light "please stop running the streets while we're dating" isn't really something to do unless you just trade it for being a sugar daddy, but i think riona for comparison is handled much much better as a long term love interest, even though riona was not set up as one and supposedly nia is, unless there's a massive flop nia doesn't seem set up to ever leave it so it seems like a idubbz sim.
but that's the smaller of 2 issues, the big part of the camgirl focus i do not like, at all, nor can reason with is mila. almost from the start of her route flags after you meet nia, they talk about camgirling, and then victoria just randomly stops everything and goes on a spiel about how it's fine and just a opinion and how mila would look great doing it and probably make a lot of money, and then mc also says how much money nia makes. just a really weird scene to me, and it gets weird when more of mila's story is told, and about how she had to deal with being called a ho because her mother's history and her low money and rich guys thinking they could get her for 5 bucks, but then there's also multiple choices now, starting with that scene, of mc having the option, going twice now, about "uh, have you considered camming? how about onlyfans?" like the message being pushed to someone trying to beat the insults and become better than their parent's choices, your prospective frigging girlfriend or more lol, is "well, if they're going to call you a ho, maybe you should just go ahead and be one". it's counter to the mc, who's supposed to move and and become better, instead of someone saying "maybe you should just stay in your room, that's all you'll ever be able to do".
if we take summer's gone as just a porno, then you're talking a girl into showing her butthole to other dudes while you can't even get a hard on yet, and if we take it as trying to be serious, it's really frigging weird and feels like something that would make mila really hate your guts. honestly mc's attitude in general doesn't make sense with possible sharing etc. like out of all his mental issues, beating tf out of kids who tried to date nami, you mean to tell me a college student with abandonment issues (crux of the entire game), anger management, is not going to have any issues with "ah yeah it's fine, you'll come back to me, so it's whatever". you mean to tell me if there was ever a setup where, with his issues, say, nami had summer's haircut and was either forcefully kissed or kissed someone else, or bella/another girl tried getting with someone else for the fun or to make him jealous, he would not catch charges? he will shove a guy into a shelf for "white knighting" and gut punch a prefect but has zero issues with non exclusive relationships, that really is the most offputting thing i've seen by season 1, besides the fact that whoever signed off on marla being a li before ayua needs to be loved in minecraft
