95% of all those telltales are just people reassuring themselves! there is a vast literature about this particularly in the trying to read if people are lieing or telling the truth! but most of that literature is just bullshit since psychologists discovered that almost every human being does those kind of things of touching themselves to reassure themselves! (that includes poking scratching and several other irrational or non controllable quirks, its connected to the cortisol level in the brain and the need to counter act them)!
In the case of Bela i just assume she does it whenever she is nervous and ofc she made it useful by drawing attention to a part of her body she as no need to be self conscious about and at the same time shows off what she as to offer while leaving a regular male either uncomfortable or out of balance!
problem here is our MC is an asexual douche... also was that before or after he stared so intently at Elsa? if its after she is afraid and why would she be afraid is the MC does not put some moist on her panties?
