May I suggest a small enhancement that improves, the overall experience of both of your games.
Implement the ability to disable the quick menu and text background.
Maybe other players will appreciate these changes too.

When Chapter 3 came, which took pretty much exactly one year, I was about to burn out because I underestimated the impact development has on your life. I worked 12-14h a day on the game but produced much less than I do nowadays.

My mindset was lacking.

In addition to what you have just mentioned in terms of mental and physical stress, there is also a very massive point:

The financial insecurity that hangs over you like the sword of Damocles!

Based on the hours worked per day/week you mentioned, it is clear that you were already working full time on the game at this point. Full-time, and with the knowledge that you are at the mercy of your supporters.

Costs that go on and on like rent, utilities, social security (I seem to remember that you had massive problems with the health insurance in the past because of your self-employment). Authorities like the tax office who step on your toes because the registered company does not pay enough taxes due to the unexpectedly low turnover, and want to know what is going on.

We don't even want to talk about the knowledge that you are literally fucked if the update is not released soon and the supporters run away because of that and you are slowly but surely drying up financially - or they look for the distance because they are simply disappointed with the quality of the update...

And the big difference between 2020/2021 is that I feel absolutely amazing. There's no sign of even the slightest hint of burnout.
Meanwhile, in 2021's Chapter 3, I was about to fail.

Every single aspect from personal health to development speed and quality has improved significantly.

I hope this question isn't too personal, if it is, just say so and I'm done with it:

How did you deal with the whole story, or what was your solution? From what I read in your statement, the mental difficulties were the biggest problem,

Did you grit your teeth and come clean with yourself on your own, seek dialogue/advice from friends and relatives? Or did you seek professional help?

I would say that advice from relatives and friends is extremely brave because they are too close or even personally involved.
I think professional help is the best, because outsiders tend to have a clearer view of the whole thing and their thinking is more "out of the box". At least that was the case for me, as I faced similar problems during my divorce.

I still think the thing in the start with MC and the gun is really awkward and stands out but now the MC comes across as damaged rather than psychotic.

I like that scene, personally - even more so because of the hospital visit followup. Being able to make the dark joke about being there to "finish the job" made me laugh out loud. Obviously not the best answer if you like Maja, but totally worth it.

Yes, this one and the dolphin joke are also totaly worth a negative RP, but it seems that the last one was too cruel for a highly moral patreon.

* chapter 3.5 to chapter 4 took 5 months
* Chapter 4 to chapter 4.5 took in 3 months

Chapter 3 to Chapter 3.5 took as you said, a little more than 9 months. (1400 still renders)

Ch 3 to Ch 3.5 took only 7 months and Ch 3.5 to Ch 4 took 11 months (technically).

Totally agree with you, I'm nearly 43 and I know I have plenty of distractions while Ocean works his magic, updates will happen whenever they do, and I'll still be happy to play them. And I'll keep supporting him on patreon in the meanwhile, cause it's possible for me, so I don't mind one bit.

Can't imagine the circumstances in which Bella and Nami would end up in an intimate relationship. But I would love to see them bonding and spending time together with MC.
Judging by the last scene, Bella finally realized that she values relationship with MC no less than her royal reputation. Therefore, if she is going to be with him, she must find a way to befriend Nami.
Though I doubt she'll restrain herself from peeing in Nami's orange juice from time to time.

This doesn't have to be difficult and you don't have to force yourself.
Find a sport you enjoy, like cycling for example or soccer, tennis, jogging...
Healthy food can be delicious too, so delicious that you never want to go back to junk food.
Eliminate the main sources of stress: news, people that make you unhappy, study psychology to accept the world as it is.
It is difficult to achieve a clean environment in the city, so move out of the city...

The best part about this is that not only will it increase your chances of making it to the end of this game, but the quality of your life and enjoyment of it will greatly improve.

Well, that might happen especially after the last scene. The MC could invite her in for coffee due to driving all night and then Nami walks in and queue awkwardness with occasional Nami humour. Who knows, Bella and Nami may start to not mind each other, Bella especially if she witnesses the MC and Nami bantering with each other

I'd like to see Nami ambush Bella. Bella knows there's enmity there, so the last thing she's likely to expect would be Nami kissing her. I could see her doing that, taking Bella completely by surprise (only if you had 'that scene' at Victoria's place) and Bella giving her a WTF afterward. "I wanted to see what the big deal is, since you kissed my brother he's been different."

We can't answer that at all yet. Bella is still far too much her own enemy, has suffered a loss about which we have so far only received hints, which she must first come to terms with. As much as the MC and Bella share the same fate, to lose a loved one, and therefore know what makes the other tick, it is Nami who was for the MC one of the main sources, in the past and also now, for his mental health.
Nami has a huge heart and the MC has benefited from it. If Bella would allow it, Nami could be a further support for her.
As for the sexual aspect, we don't know yet if Bella is bi-sexual at all.
