Well being a former sub the very first thing you learn is never....NEVER
go by Ocean and his time table. In fact you don't need to be a former sub
to know that over the last few years. Just disregard anytime table and hope
for the best. ;)

It seemed more of a tabletop role-playing game than a board game, though. Yeah, it was pretty fun, if a bit long.
fucking degenerates ...

To be serious: I hate boardgames with such a burning passion in avns. The whole setup of a fantasy game in a (fantasy) game sounds already so fucking stupid, i hate it in every single avn similar to fucking lewd dreams or non-canon "bonus" content/scenes :sick::sick:

The purest form of waste of development speed and filler in a medium where development speed is slow already anyway.

You're entitled to your opinion, obviously, even when it's as wrong as this one. The game is actually part of the character development, as they are interacting with the other players. It's not an interlude, it's part of the actual game, just framed as a game within a game.

Nika was coming out of his shell even more by interacting with the other players in the game, was actively part of the game plot instead of wallowing in depression. At least one of the other players were complete strangers, but that didn't matter in the context of the game. Nika stayed very involved and engaged in the game.

This wasn't an "Interlude" like BaD uses, it was actually part of the story, and if you frame it that way, look from that perspective, you might enjoy it more, and appreciate the overall story of the (AVN) game more.

I dont mind the mc or other characters in the story playing a game or whatever for character or relationship development. But thats not really what happens in these avns, instead we are shown how the MC imagines this stuff happening with lots of flashy unneeded renders.

In the end its just a excuse to involve some stupid sci-fi renders and fucking aliens in a otherwise mostly grounded story. And worst case possible: Give us lewds with the girls in the fucking stupid tabletop before lewds with them even happen in the real story.

Nika talking to nadia before the board game had waaay more story development than the whole fucking stupid boardgame, the only girl which could be argued got a bit development due to the board game was sonja but tbh that was rather stupid too and i would have prefered to see her development in a setup where it actually matters.

Not to mention how hilarious the idea of a group of (not even nerdy) girls playing tabletop all the time and mc being the only guy  and juuuust at the time when they start considering lewd content

I would honestly have prefered if ocean would have shown us nika and the girls sitting at a table, playing and talking instead of the whole stupid shit with aliens.

this stupid game is the plot of sg. And all these characters are present in both games of Ocean. The essence of both games is exactly what happens in the board game. And of course the game is not about aliens Ocean changed the personalities of the characters.

Man, Coming back to this one a couple years later is weird. I forgot how much of a cockblock it was lmao

A full season with 5 chapters....I get it, MC has trauma he has to overcome, Its a story point. But holy fuck we got Ocean going out of his way to have the text of multiple girls being horny for MC and we cant even get some foreplay. His dick might not get up but the way he be making out with and touching Bella tells me dudes libido still works. Season 2 gonna need to address this shit right away cause fuck WiAB was shoving sex scenes into my face like every other scene transition

To be honest, I liked the tabletop stuff also. And not just because it gives us the possibility to get closer to Sonya, no, I'm also a sucker for Sci-Fi stuff.
A nice bonus is, that we get hands on additional tool in our tool case to crack Nadjas shell who counts as updateable.

I know that the board game has two camps, those who like it and those who think it was a waste (of time and energy that could have gone into advancing the story a different way).

I liked the board game for a few reasons, including:

Nika steps further out of his shell when he gets Nadia to talk to Sonya's parents, acting like a professor, and tells them that Sonya needs to attend an all-female session later that week (the game).

The board game introduces a different version of Nadia - someone with sex fantasies - and the game is a way for her to safely explore them.

Sonya also opens up a bit more, between her romantic idea of her figure and Nika's figure (what Nadia created for their characters in game) dancing and holding hands to Sonya killing alien bad guys and Nika telling her he is proud of her, she gets to show a bit of independence and become more her own person versus her parents controlled daughter.

Nika is there when Cindy Mueller (math prof) stops by to see if she can join the game and learns that they are already finished. It is here that we learn that the game is one of the 'safe' places for students and professors to interact socially.

We learn about the barn and the parties there, so a future session at the barn will include not just the game but drinking and, IMO, chances for sexy time (and more save game alternatives for those of us who want to sample all the possibilities, including a few of the female teachers... ;))

Could Ocean have done all this differently - Of Course!

He did not, the game is now canon, and we get all the story benefits I listed above as well as others I did not list or missed.

I am looking forward to a party at the barn and I doubt Ocean is going to have another part of the role-playing game dominate that experience.

The barn also feels like a weekend experience so the soonest it would land would be in another 6 in AVN days.

We will have a number of hours of content to enjoy well before the barn party could happen.

(For those with the snarky comments about this happening sometime after 2030 - so what! I'm here for the duration, looking forward to enjoying Summers Gone for as long as Ocean wants to share his creativity with us.)

I view Summers Gone much like I do A Song Of Fire And Ice by George R.R. Martin, first book published almost 29 years ago with TWO more books planned. I don't know how long it will take him to deliver his next two books but that does not reduce my enjoyment of the books he has already given us. I feel the same way about S1 of Summers Gone.

Cheers!! :coffee:

I think we found the reasonable adult of the fandom.
