Beyond the controversial "incest" themes that some (Most) seem to endorse, the primary issue lies in the writing quality. With sharper, more engaging writing, Ocean could have crafted a less dull and cringe-worthy story. It did miss some good punch!

I just wish PixelLab had this much of support. I miss some good written VN these days.

I agree with that statement. In the first place, it was always about the criminal world. The old WIAB was less focused because it was a porn game rather than an adult themed game. I remember about the gangs, the old families, the prison, the girl falsely accusing you etc...

The issue lies with the fact that it takes too much time and the story suffer from that. When chapter 4 went out, I played from the beginning because I knew it wouldn't make much sense just playing the last chapter after 1 year and a half.

Ocean's biggest mistake is to focus on both game at the same time, rather than doing first SG, and then, focus on WIAB. Considering that it's somewhat a prequel, it could have been better.

And considering the speed he's shitting very high quality render, focusing on one game would make update faster, we're talking every three month.

You used the right word. It always did lean into that. And I expected it to still be part of the story but not to this insane level. Ocean didn't just take some inspiration from those themes, he made it the central theme of this story. And worse, he went overboard with it. Instead of keeping it small, grounded and plausible he just created a world that is imposssible to take seriously for anyone with a brain. He had to go with a gigantic criminal structure that spans continents. It's absurd.

Maybe not. Neither the Italian or North American Mafia lasted longer than 10-15 years before being almost completely dismantled by authorities. No criminal organization the size and scope of the one Ocean is creating would last long. This is why I'm hopeful all that ludicrous garbage will be done in the SG timeline.

Another huge issue with the reworks. All the gravitas these 2 stories had are dead and gone. I too expected his time in prison would have taken a serious toll on a young adult but nah. It's just treated with levity. Like a little bump in the road. A silly justification for him not being able to return immediately.

This is probably the main reason for my rejection, they just drop a nuclear bomb on us in the form of "John Wick 2," every dog has a gun and a family belonging. Maybe the ocean hired this scriptwriter for the second part because there wasn't one like this in the first.

I hear ya, and I agree, Ocean went all-in with that global criminal empire, making it tough to take seriously.

Rest assured, SG won’t go down that road. It’s not turning into a mafia-style VN. Nika and the crew might deal with some part of it poking around, but they’ll sort it out and move on, keeping things grounded.

I'm very skeptical, and I'm even starting to invoke Ocean's Law: if the author can make an idiotic decision, he or she will definitely do so, especially at the worst possible time.
