Is there a precedence for "evading" a ban by a creator? even though it's 2 different projects? I can see them banning Ocean if he was actively promoting WiAB, a banned game, on the SG page.

When I remember correctly Patreon only allows one account, so two accounts, one for SG and one for WIAB, wasn't allowed to begin with. Patreon don't want to fundraise WIAB. How should they made sure no cent Ocean gets from his SG site goes into WIAB?

That makes sense since all the other developers I know of who are working on multiple projects have one Patreon account. It seemed odd that Ocean had two, but I haven't followed his games for long.

Apparently you can have multiple projects independently. But also " Yes, if you are banned from Patreon for violating their guidelines, they can ban all other accounts associated with your identity "

So yeah... that might be it folks. Just weird it took this long for it to happen after the WiAB ban. Guess having Ocean and ImNotOcean (Oceanlab) as the accounts wasn't a good idea.

Never an official reason given I believe. Nothing in Ch.3 broke Patreon's ToS at the time.

Describing something in the past is not against their ToS 'at the time it was banned'. Also, there is no actual stating they did anything...at all...just impied and heresay/gossip.

The fact still remains, whatever the reasons, they were not explciit in saying so.

Summer's Gone patreon was removed entirely. I noticed this morning and it was posted to the discord a little later by Mav asking what had happened.

According to Ocean they've received an email about it from patreon and it's because of Ocean themselves, not SG specifically. Which means it's likely due to WiAB being banned a long time ago which meant all associated accounts should have been taken down as well for review but SG never was so it was like ban evasion (I'm assuming). Wasn't dinged until last night or this morning. I'm sure he'll let us know more as he finds out. Said he was speaking to his lawyers.

Yeah if the actual reason 'is' because it's a different account....then yes it should have gone at the same time (multi accounts is against their ToS)....then he really hasn't a leg to stand on at all. He will never get an account back or be able to create a new one.

When enough complains came in or they found something on Discord servers, they just act. Some games were even banned because of fan made mods. I remember there was a game a few years ago where they even argued with tags from F95. Can't say which one anymore because I never played it and just read about it back then, but Patreon does Patreon things. It's a shame though. According to their TOS they had to ban the Bible and Quran because of the content and a lot of work that's considered as world literature. It's modern times and it doesn't help the world is becoming more and more prude.

Yeah, me neither. Let's hope Ocean will be able to work around the ban, and somehow reverse it back so we can get few more chapters. Maybe wishfull thinking but hope never dies, right?

That's a very reasonable opinion to be honest. Definitely agree there, that it would be less "painfull".
