Being smart requires a person to have basic understanding of the industry terms before they decide to undermine others' intelligence. 'He needs to render 11 animations' means he is posing the renders, while 'there are 11 animations in the rendering queue' means that the computer has a queue of 11 animations set up to digest. It's like saying that preparing 11 cookies for baking and having 11 cookies in the oven are two the same things
Aren't you curious why these 11 animations still haven't rendered after two weeks? Ocean has three super-powerful rendering stations that could render these animations in a couple of days at most. But the most interesting thing is that at this very moment, when Ocean should be preparing SG for release, he ignored it and started working on Wiab. Isn't that strange? But then I remembered a comment someone wrote on this forum a couple of weeks ago. He suggested that Ocean finished SG a long time ago and is now simply making up logs to pretend he's working on it. This explains all of Ocean's actions, now it's clear why he wrote unrealistically long work schedules, all these ridiculous numbers, he just makes them up. It also explains Ocean's strange behavior when he stopped working on SG just before its release and started working on Wiad.

Ocean stops working on SG so he doesn't get burned out and all that shit. Genius y'see:WeSmart: instead of taking a break which he does, by the way.

Don't repeat Ocean's nonsense. Burnout doesn't exist, only fatigue. To relieve fatigue, days off and vacations were invented. And if we talk about Ocean, he doesn’t need any vacations at all with the kind of work schedule he has. :KEK:

I have to ask you, and anyone else who's ventured into an Oceanlab game: is there any evidence of an actual outline or narrative blueprint?

It seems glaringly obvious that the characters just free-associate based on the immediate scene. This 'write-as-you-go' approach is the root cause of all the jarring inconsistencies and the relentless verbal diarrhea that floods the script.
Dude, I'm just paraphrasing his words, what he said in the dev logs. What kind of evidence are you looking for though, for the story? Screenshots of the word document version history or something?

I think that, even with as much as Ocean is upfront with us, there are a lot of things that you just have to take him at his word with. I was just passing on the known news, not announcing my opinion or anything like that. It is entirely possible that the script is written, and it's just that bad.

Writters often work on different books to prevent burnout or fatigue. Of course vacations work too.

I'm "active" on this thread because I prefer SG before Wiab (sorry guys :p), but if he wants to make two games, with all the problems that means, it's his choice. And if for him works like a method to prevent burnout, I'm good.

I probably disagree here; people are psychologically structured in such a way that if they want to achieve success, they must completely focus on their goal. A person can't do several serious tasks well at once. Therefore, working on two games simultaneously isn't a good idea.

Curious to understand better the free-association argument

Tell Brandon Sanderson he's approaching writing wrong. He's a nice guy - he probably won't burst out laughing until after you're out of earshot.

Or is it somehow different when he alternates books from different series than when Ocean alternates chapters from different games?

Cool example. Now compare the number of finished works between the two.

Yeah well peoples should take a chill pill for once!

Maybe you should remember how things where back in the days: Whe learned that a game was beeing made via magasine, witch was prior to the internet.

Game studio/compagny had a whole team dedicated for one project. Then the game came out like a years and a half to 2 years max out after it was announced.

Fast foward to theses day, people make game in theyre house while having a life outside the fews projects theyre working on.
So yeah, calm to way down!

If i was a game dev doing 1 or 2 game and as a one man team, i might be tempted to say fuck it and scrap the whole thing since some people dont care about the life of the game dev.

If you where all so eager to get news, theyre a fews way to know the game dev log like facebook page dedicaded to the game, actually getting on subscribe star since patreon is out the window and such.

Not a very good comparison, Sanderson concentrates entirely on his book, and after finishing it he starts the next one. Ocean works on one game for a bit, then starts working on another, and so he constantly jumps between games. You could even say that he makes two games at once. The result of this was well described by Perfect S.

If you want to compare output, I could pick DrPinkCake, who is following the suggested "focus on just one project" model, started his big project a few months before this game, and is still probably 5-10 years away from finishing.
Yet DPC is pumping out bigger updates, with more story branches in a story far more progressed than either Ocean projects, in less time.

If you're going to use an example, find another dev who decided to remake his game after 2-3 years. The story in WiaB was already laid out until Ch6 and 4 years later, the remakes story still hasn't progressed beyond the original. It'd be like GRRM deciding to rewrite ASOIAF and after years of waiting, A Feast of Crows: Enhanced Edition is still to come and the likelihood of seeing The Winds of Winter is still zero.

No

Hell, no.
in a story far more progressed
Fucking hell no.

in less time
Holy shit, Jesus, have you even done a little bit of research?

Every single fucking point you mentioned is nothing more than spreading baseless rumours or straight up false information.
All of this nonsense was refuted in the past - multiple times, with proofing.

But to be fair, both games can't be really compared, apples and oranges - total different approach and topic. The only similarity is the school topic.

Holy shit you really are a Ocean meat-rider!

You really believe that SG has progressed further in its story (which Ocean claims will be 30 chapters) than a game that is entering its final 4 chapters?

Also, we've never had to wait 18 months for an update to BaD, 15 months was the longest due to 7000+ renders and like 400 animations.

You'll obviously show the proof that everything I said was baseless and false, right?
