No it isn't. SG is the sequel/continuation. Pedantic maybe but let's get it right. WIAB was also released before SG too.
I was trying to sum it up to someone who had just discovered the game(s).
no need to go into specifics.
there are still story beats about the Zanes/Petrovas/Reveras in both games. doesn't go further than that. William is alluded to in SG . ("team getting backshots from him ") and you see Katie Zane in SG
It's a prequel . whether it's related or not is irrelevant. it's about "stuff that happened before ", with "some of the people that you see in SG that you vaguely hear about".

not even sure WIAB is in Wollust. can't remember. anyway. didn't wanna write an essay about how it can technically be defined as a prequel in an f95 comment to just suggest the other game to someone.
I'm not even sure I played WIAB's latest update to be fair. bought it on steam but haven't touched it in a year and a half.

its not a dig at ocean but i dont know a single dev that increased their productivity with more support
All developers receive constant support, both moral and monetary. But productivity depends solely on the developer's honesty, and honest developers are very few. If developers try to make updates as often as possible, they earn good money, and those who are constantly delaying the release of updates get the scraps. This is exactly how this system works.

I think he's still passionate about his stuff, but money and support allowed him to wallow in what he already achieved and drip feed content at his own leisurly pace.
he clearly could provide more.

Not defending Ocean (or any other dev for that matter) here, but productivity doesn't necessarily mean faster releases. It could mean more content for the same release pace. Or even higher quality content for the same release pace.

No it doesn't. In a perfect world that's how it would work but the reality tells another story. That's very naive take. The truth is that a popular game good enough to appeal to the masses can take 1+ year to release an update and still maintain a large number of supporters while no matter how honest and hard workers some smaller developpers are, they'll never reach 1k subscribers.

That's why the scammer developper responsible of the 18 months rules creation has still more subscribers on patreon than 95 % of the games you can find here, year after his game is completed.

It's not about being honest or hard working. Some can reach success others don't, even if they deserve it more. It's not a fair game but life isn't fair either.

Here we go again.

Ocean isn't making enough money to wallow around. Life is expensive if you are paying for everything (food, shelter, utilities, transportation, etc.) all on your own instead of living in mommy's basement and leeching off her, especially in an expensive and high-tax country like Germany.

Can Ocean work better and come out with more content quicker? Highly likely, especially if he can drop his perfectionist attitude.

Is Ocean making a lot of money? Absolutely not.

I thought this race was extinct here, but it looks like it will take more than SG to delay for a few more years, then who knows, maybe they'll wake up/be annihilated here.

That's a shame. Game has mostly positive reviews, it's a waste if the dev abandons it.
The dev hasn't abandoned anything. On the contrary, he is prepping for the release of the first chapters of season 2 (last I remember was 4 chapters), containing over 8000 static full frame 4K renders (already rendered) and a bunch (not sure how many) of cinematic animations.
No one knows exactly when it might happen though. Happens when it's ready, possibly February. We'll know more when the next devlog drops on Sunday or Monday.

That's assuming focusing on a single game every day would not cause a mental burnout.

And I know you weren't around back then, but Ocean literally told us right here that it would indeed cause a burnout and that's why he's rotating between 2 games.

Take that as the truth. Or take that as an excuse. That's up to you. But I do know some people that works better if they aren't focusing on just one project.
