I was simply stating that people can prevent burnout differently. Ocean's constant misses on target deadlines is something I also have a problem with which is why I don't support monthly and only buy on release. I wasn't defending the rest of the many poor choices and constant complaints about taxes he has made.
sorry . I got a carried away and got rude. apologies.
cheers mate.

I find it funny that he's going through all this trouble for a steam release like its going to help him financially when in reality his first season only got 340 players.. which roughly translates into $3000 euro's that's nothing compared to what he spends on development costs..

I think he's well and truly cooked since leaving patreon and IF Season 2 does actually finally release in all honesty I think it might be his last.

is that what you're referring to? Because if so that's the number of max players PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME, not how many people bought the game

Google AI:

"As of a recent estimate, approximately 18,720 copies of Summer's Gone - Season 1 have been sold on Steam.
This figure is an estimate from a third-party analytics site, as official, precise sales data from Steam is not publicly available. The same source estimates the game's gross revenue at approximately $213,000. Other estimates suggest revenue around $170,000."

Since it's an estimate and not official Steam figures, obviously it can't be taken as gospel but it can give a rough ballpark figure.

This game could have made a decent profit on Steam. As usual, Ocean made a foolish move when he removed almost all the erotic scenes from the game. Games without sex aren't popular on Steam (and not just on Steam, but everywhere), which is why the profit was so small.

copies sold should be pretty pretty bang on, total revenue however won't be since it can't really take into account the various sales or bundles and whatnot. At least that's what I think. But it's a decent enough ballpark estimate.

Ofc these numbers are very rough estimation.
213000 / 18750 = 11,36$ per copy.
I'm not sure this price accurately reflects the average cost per copy sold. Regional prices varied greatly, with sales and bundles available.

The number of copies sold varies greatly across trackers; for example, Gamalytic gives this estimate: 9.5k - 23.6k, so they just average it to 16,6K.

If I remember correctly, Ocean spilled somewhere that the figures were close to the upper end of the estimate. But it's important to keep in mind that the revenue reported is gross profit, and actually, he makes I believe ~50-70 percent of that sum. All right then, Ocean. Keep your secrets. :Kappa:

Anyway, all of this is unnecessary overcomplication that doesn't help to prove that Ocean is losing money because he doesn't listen to the zonie experts.

steam takes a flat 30% right off I think. Plus country specific taxes afterwards :HideThePain:

Rather you believe the next person or not the fact of the matter is like it or not Season 2 is not coming in the next couple days, weeks or months.

It will come will out only when Ocean decides and that can be tomarrow or 90 days from now or even another year and not anytime sooner.

But one thing is a fact if anything else isnt, Ocean does not care what we think his fan base , He does not care if we are happy or upset. Because if he did then he would have listened to us long ago a good company listens to their customers but Ocean doesnt.

This update Season 2 will make or break Ocean if it is a success then he will continue but if it is a flop which i have always believed it will be then his future will be in question , time will tell.
