As much as I can understand a certain love attraction between brother and sister at an age when sexuality is becoming predominant, I do not understand the sexual attraction between mother and son or father and daughter. The age gap is important and one of the protagonists is supposed to be mature and know how to control his erotic impulses. I say that but not having had a sister (nor a brother, for that matter), my opinion is of little value. If by popularized you mean it created a conversational bubble where incest among other topics was/is freely discussed, you probably have a defensible point. However, incest, while in a substantial minority, has been around as long as humans have walked the earth, and while uncommon it's far from rare. So maybe all the porn industry did was make it a more discussable topic.
