Yes, all of these new locations technically weren't supposed to be part of the actual tech update, given that most of them won't be needed for Rhonda's story, either. I guess if everything had gone to plan, we'd have gotten the new map, but the new location's frontyards would have been relased once they were needed. Now we'll get all of them at once.
It looks like we'll get a witch at some point, who is supposed to live there. Next to that maybe a wolf girl or such. But I doubt it's going to happen soon.

I'd rather have a "good ending" and be able to take one of the girls to the prom before starting the cycle of endlessly adding new fuckable characters. I'd settle for finishing the routes for the existing characters before starting the cycle of endlessly adding new fuckable characters.

I don't think there's actually a perfect way to do it. Having very few characters certainly makes it easier to focus, but in return the "world/game" is a lot less divers and probably also a bit less interesting. Don't get me wrong, there are many games which get it right with few characters, but in SS's case I'd say that girls like Missy and Becca or Grace and Odette actually make the game better, even though they certainly aren't necessary to write a good story about Roxxy or Eve. The thing is that you have to include them into these updates or you may not add them at all.
I know the main story has kinda messed with people minds, but apart from a few characters, there aren't really that many "super optinonal" characters people would forgo easily. Unless you get radical and cut everybody except the 8 (9) official main LI. But then the game would basically only consist of Debbie, Jenny, Mia, Roxxy, Eve, Ronda, Annie, Judith and Kevin (maybe Diane and Tammy as it would be easy to add them).
Last but not least to your point: The prom is supposed to be added after we've gotten a somewhat comprehensive dating system. That's why DC probably never even considered going beyond what we've got now, for now.

I've seen the dating system mentioned. That series of words brings to mind the dating system in Love & Sex: Second Base. I wouldn't want a system like that in Summertime Saga, i.e. taking girls to various date locations, and having to say and do the right things to convince them to sleep with me. I've already convinced them to sleep with me! Hooking up without dating is what life is like in school! That's one of the things that I like about this game, in contrast to typical harem games. I would have no problem at all if you could immediately pick someone to take to the prom after finishing the Raz storyline and completing the chosen girl's route.
Maybe the devs will come up with a dating system that matches the feel and gameplay of the rest of the game. Right now, I'm skeptical that such a system would make the game better rather than worse.

The dating system is supposed to be added between the end of a girl's story and their sex scenes/the prom. In Roxxy's case that would mean that Mc would beat Dexter and - unlike now where it goes straight to sex - he'd get the opportunity to date Roxxy and as soon as he'se got that figured out (i.e. collected a few points by chosing the right dates, which match a girl's taste) he'll likely be able to unlock a few addtional scenes like HJ, BJs, Boobjobs, etc. until he gets the sex scenes and the eventually the prom. At least that's how DC basically explained it.
Next to that MC is actually supposed to lose points in case he dates several girls at once, though I don't know if they'll really implement that.

All of that sounds terrible. Just extra work to do what you can already do. It's works realistically and well the way it is. I didn't have to date when I was a student. You hung out at school until you were ready to fuck, and then you went to their place or they came to yours.

meh, yeah it's probably not going to happen anytime soon but i still wish he would just focus on the rhonda art. once the tech update is going to be released and people find out there is really not much new story they will ask for the rhonda update to be released as soon as possible.

I'm not really sure that's most people's reality though and/or it'll really depend on the country you grow up in. At least here it's perfectly normal to meet after school and do something etc. - usually you may at least make a few nice memories/get to know the other better before you start making out. I'd say it's going to fit well into most girl's stories and invinting Ronda to see a sports game or visiting the arcarde/cinema with Eve really doesn't sound so bad to me.
That's probably true, I'm not following that many streams at the moment so I honestly don't know. Then again, we don't know what DC is actually working on when he's not streaming.

Sure, but something less formal than a date. I wasn't able to make several grand a week delivering pizza, so date nights weren't really a thing until I got a real job. One of my "dates" in high school was sitting under an apple tree after school. It was the sorts of things that Anon does with Roxxy and Eve: studying, hanging out, etc.

Where I'm from "formal dates" aren't even a thing, so I can't really relate to them anyway. Next to that I don't think it's what DC is aming for at all - as you say, they are supposed to be in high school and there are new locations like the light house or the cabin which will be a good fit. I'm sure the dating will add some additional depth to some of the girls and it'll fit well.

i wonder how he's going to sell the dating system to his patreons. even if you get a couple new h-scenes per girl the updates are still going to be light on story and you've already had sex with all the girls before. it's kinda like if you wrote a book and you read the beginning and end and the author decides to expand the boring middle part instead of moving forward with the story.
worst of all he has to do this for all the main girls probably in a row so is it going to be multiple years of developing the dating system for each girl? are his patreons really going to be cool with that? i hope he has thought about this or that the dating system will be better than what i think it will end up being

I mean, we know that people will pay "some money" if they get content in return and we know that DC doesn't care about money that much.
He'll very likely just do what he wants and eventually it'll be done. I'd say it'll help that each girl will get a prom scene at the end of the dating process, which is probably a good hook to keep people on board.
As far as I understand it, it's not like the story will actually get expanded. It's just to add in some details and a few missing scenes - after all there are many who complain (for years) about the lack of BJs, Boobjobs, etc. and it's the perfect occasion to add these.

I'm not in school any more! School was great, because I was surrounded by single people my age who wanted to not be single. It's like a singles bar with books and wedgies!
Even then, it didn't come easy. I had a few relationships in high school, but I didn't go on anything I would consider a date until I was 19. As far as I could tell, that was normal. People had boyfriends and girlfriends, and some of them were fucking. The courting part of the relationship happened at school or at home.
Also, I suspect that I'm not alone in playing porn games despite having access to sex. It never occurred to me that only single people played these games. I've lived with a partner in a marriage-like relationship for a cumulative total of 10 years, but I haven't stopped masturbating since I started.
