While having an alternative to Patreon for adult games would solve the problem for us as users, it wouldn't help the devs.
It would be extremely arduous for them to gain the backing they did on Patreon.

In an ideal World, Patreon would adopt a "live and let live" attitude and stop their anti-porn crusade.

Tbh I have a feeling that DC will promote an altered version on Patreon, and give us the option to retain the incest theme on other site (like the official website).

What is going to happen is that Patreon is going to tell him that he has to stop Summertime Saga all together on their site. Its what they have been doing to multiple other creators, as they know that the creators aren't going to abandon the project when its been going so strong.

the fact is that not only must change the names but also the dialogues, I am also convinced that the next updates will also lose because it will be forced to make dialogues that go well for one (incest) and the other version (no incest), so with good probability they will be anonymous / insipid, I doubt that will make lines of dialogue depending on the version ........................ and that as if all was not enough this will slow down the release of the 0.15 version even more :disappointed:

fortunately this happened after the 0.14.5.2, otherwise they would have completely ruined the update of Debbie (my favorite character in absolute within summertime saga)

Just spoke with DC on discord pm's. He doesn't seem worried at all, I asked him about retaining the incest as that's what nearly everyone wants and he said plans are already in motion to keep everyone happy. Plenty of devs have been hit with this and it hasn't ruined fuck all.

And what did you expect him to tell you? Of course, he's going to tell you it's okay. But Patreon acts based on reports and if he tries something sneaky, the rats will know and will report him again. My best bet is that SS will be forced out of Patreon as many other games have in the past.

Umm... There are only two big devs that have been told to stop. Mr Dots because he was DUMB and wrote the restore incest steps on patreon! (And sent e-mails to everyone on his patreon, including the fucking investigation team) and Darksilver, who left everything incest related on his page even after everyone warned him, WAS given the option to change content but just didn't. (He'd been wanting to abandon BB for a long while, everyone knew it)

There's quite a few ways for SS to comply with 'nazitreon' on the face and have nothing trace back to D.C. As long as he isn't stupid (he isnt) everything will be fine.

That's just completely false lmao. Patreon gave him no choice, BB wasn't allowed on Patreon in any shape or form. Also not sure if DS was losing interest in BB, but he sure as hell wouldn't abandon it. It's what got him most of his income.

Anyway i really hope that all the thing go well. Because i start to play this game only for the incest thing. And without the incest i do not think i wanna continue it u_u so i really hope that in some way there is some incest patch, if the thing go wrong.

That seems to come down to context. MrDots did essentially that with DMD, but then he posted the patch right on his Patreon page and made no attempt to disguise what he was doing. I bet he would have been fine if he kept the actual incest off site. I worry that there's a few other games that make no attempt to disguise their lewd patches, but if they're willing to fly close to the sun so be it.

No, that's not going to work. As far as I'm aware patreon does at least check the links a developer provides (that's why the Summertimesaga wiki was removed on DCs own homepage some time ago) and thus you can't just cheat your way out that easy as it seems.

DC's page was very clean and didn't advertise any adult content at all. Thus I'm actually pretty sure that patreon did check the game itself or at least had a very deep look into the matter. I really wouldn't have though that they'd get this serious about it. At least SS is in the position to change the story rather easy when it comes to the main story.

What I wanted to say before was... That the author should not create two different texts. But to release the game without any text on patreon. And the complete original text on another site. Simply to say for the text to go on another site he open. Without linking the file directly. If it does not insert a direct link, there should be no consequences. At least that way it should be. So those who play there must only apply it. And you do not have to do a double job to create two plots just to please the site.
