You're right. I'm not going to tell you that. What I am going to tell you is it seems clear to me that an awful lot of people here have the concepts of supporting the developer of the game (patronage) and supporting the development of the game (commission) cross-wired in their brains.
(It's not really a commission, but that's the closest thing I could think of at midnight as I post this)

This was essentially the annoying part of the Cloud Meadow/Breeding Farm(? I forgot the original games name) situation. Basically the game was doing everything right. meeting its deadlines etc. but it was a hand drawn game that suffered from feature creep. Which was the fans fault cuz thats exactly what they kept asking/voting for, but they rioted anyway. Even though we KNEW how long it was gonna take. Once money gets involved entitlement goes waaaay up even if the money they gave was a dollar a month to SUPPORT development. I dunno how that translates to artist drawing faster or coder coding faster/better, or writer... writing further???

Year 2035. After releasing all the old content for "technically updated" version in 2029 Shitcoockie decided to reimplement all the animations with the help of his new apprentice, the darth dildorog. He promised, all scenes will be implemented before the end of the year, coz they "are all ready and all that remains is to replace old ones with the new ones. That will be done after short technical update.". No news from him since then. Except his streams where he redraws interiors and tell jokes about what leg doctors will cut from him next year - just for fun, coz his wife mentioned she doesn't want to buy him shoes. Era of Second Technical Uppdate begun.
Some of the inital patrons died coz of brain malfunctioning, but their relatives continue to throw money on shitcoockie.
A bunch of people who still remember old releases before first tech update are declared heretics by his sect.
Every whisper of reason is being laughed at, and thoise posts literally drowning in shitloads of "you're playing it for free, so shut the fuck up" and "game is full of content now, it is literally complete, don't whine" posts made by the most trusted of shills.

If you've played this before, you might remember this action in order to unlock the cookie jar (not needing the save --- also the new way it is implemented is that it doesn't effect your save, if you choose to turn the unlock off - the cookie jar only shows what you have opened, not the entire jar):

DC's average patron pays ~$2 a month and it literally takes 5 seconds to cancel that pledge on patreon. This isn't some elaborte scam that costs people their livelyhood, but literally a sum most people won't even notice.
I mean, I get that people don't want that DC earny money for what ever reason, but saying that people have to be protected from spending on average ~$ 24 a year on something that may not be worth their money is almost laughable.
I recently spent 70 € for 2 cinema tickets and some snacks, just for reference, while we are talking about unethical pricing...

This is the type of arrogance that I've been calling out this whole time. It's evident in the very language you use. You and others have the arrogance to truly believe that everyone who doesn't think the way you do has to be objectively stupid and/or naive to the point of foolishness. And the people who call you out on your self-important stance are somehow not normal humans and must be amoral and unfeeling simply because we allow other people the right to spend their resources how they, personally wish, whether we agree on what they spend those resources or not. You're insulting the intelligence of, and infantilizing a bunch of people you don't know simply because you don't like the pace or content of a group of devs. That's it.
But that's not true either, is it? You DO like the content they provide, or you wouldnt even be here, it's just not fast enough for you. Which, fair. I'd like new content too. But I don't claim that the people who sub to the patreon are beneath my intelligence simply because I personally don't sub.
And now Patreon is "unethical" because they (oh horror of horrors) allow people the right to spend their own money how they please! I can think of WAY better reasons to call Patreon unethical.
