The thing is...they did finish the game. The story was finished, majority of the side stories had endings. The only thing really missing was the nursery. It is crazy they are just re-doing it intead of doing the honest thing and saying its just a remake of the first game.

The count was faster xD (Always nice seeing you man )

But yes, there was one endgoal missing and that was the prom dates. Basically pick you waifu out of the possible options have a nice scene (possible short epilogue, I mean the MC did left some babys all over the place xD) and roll credits I guess.

The nursery were surely be used an tandem with content revolving around all the kids you made but we never came to that.

I really don't get this notion of "the code was not holding on" being the main factor of the "tech update". I can understand that DC brought on a new coder after the old one either left or was fired -- and the new coder was too lazy to trace thousands of lines of code to "adhere" to old/whatever coding standards the prior programmer had.

But code is code -- if it worked it worked, otherwise the game would not have worked period. There was a certain kind of logic that functioned and was prior utilized to get the game running. There were bugs, yes -- but those bugs could have easily been traced and fixed if the new coder "wanted" to spend the time doing so. Again, this is thousands of lines of code and I guarantee you the new programmer just didn't want to sift through old code and abide by those standards.

This would be the reason why the new coder wanted to start from scratch and apply his own coding standards. This is an indie game after all and solo devs/coders adhere to coding standards they want to, rather than learn and abide by standards administered by any given company.

Take any indie game and you can see what kind of or lack of standards there are in coding. Undertale, for example, is a fully functional game with a terrible codebase -- and released "finished" but any coder would and should criticize how garbageits codebase is and it truly should have a refactor. But it wasn't necessary and was not retouched after release.

The notion that the new coder didn't want to trace the previous code, and the idea that he could then also implement features DC wanted along the way -- is the only realistic reason why code had to be redone from scratch for the tech update. Spaghetti code is no reason that things would require being redone from scratch. Lets take FFXIV, not-an-indie game; that is plagued with old spaghetti code too. From FFXIV 1.0, there was residual designs in the code that have affected how the game progressed with its 3-4 expansions there after. They built off the code of 1.0, they didn't rewrite that shit. And there is issues because of that -- but the game still works.

So this whole -- "old code just couldn't hold on/keep up" with DC's vision is absolute garbage and delusional BS take. From someone who obviously doesn't know anything about coding.

Wow, so much money. So this game is basically the porn version of Star Citizen, with the same reputation. It’s not sad—it’s called cognitive dissonance, a pretty common phenomenon among people who’ve already poured tons of money into that sinkhole.


In my opinion, the sad part is that this kind of developer greed and practice is unhealthy for the entire crowdfunded game industry. It’s a textbook example of why you shouldn’t pay for something that isn’t finished—right up there with other infamous games like Milfy City or Monster Island.


People who wasted hundreds of dollars and got nothing might never subscribe to another crowdfunded project again.

Completion of this hasn't been a goal since at least 2017. There is no plan to complete this any time soon. Not while they enjoy what they do, they have new ideas, and fans want more content.

Several people who have written mods for the original version of the game have confirmed the code was shit. Including the modder who created the Naughty Tribute Mod and the one who created the Small Penis Humiliation Mod. And then there is this from the guy who is the creator of the Relation Tweaker Mod:

The tech update has been a monumental task for the team, and it was completely necessary.

The original game was barely held together by a patchwork of spaghetti code from different coders and experience.

Hell, I started working on my mod for the 0.20.16 version, and just clicking through the dialogue would slow/lag if I wasn't extremely careful with my programming. Just poorly optimized, with very little overhead.

The tech update however, is just on another level.
Most of the released work till now is under the hood stuff, that sadly goes unappreciated.
It's definitely not just swapping to 16x9 backgrounds with the devs mostly sitting on their asses.

If they can't pay the bills, they can't spend time making games. And for the hobbyists (not like DC) who still work full time on other jobs, they are doing this as a side gig (and many of them hoping that subscribers will allow them to dump their full time job so that they can develop adult games full time).

You'd essentially only have the Japanese studio games and a handful of western games without the subscription model.

And there is no reason -- even when modders have said previous builds had garbage codebases to rewrite the entire thing. Good practices lead to refactoring and retooling of existing code -- again, not a wipe from a clean slate kind of mindset.

I don’t understand why you quoted me. You misunderstood—I have no problem with this business model; it can work. I understand the positive side and its necessity. But maybe you’re missing the negative side and the “milking” approach that can destroy players’ trust in these types of games.


Without sites like SS or Patreon, there would definitely be fewer games—but essentially better ones. Especially nowadays, when even Steam realizes how much money is in the erotic game genre. There’d also be far less milking. It would force developers to actually put something on the table in time, instead of wasting resources—meaning other people’s time and money.

I have never touched this game. I only keep on reading stuff like "you have never waited for summertime saga bro" The previews of this game look so ass. Characters dont look appealing at all. the dev is still not finished even though the game has been out for like... 9 years? How is this game so big, just because the the game has been there since ancient times? Holy damn. I feel very sorry for the supporters.... cant imagining fapping to this one, no matter what...

Play the pre tech version, this guy used to finish 1 character per update. The updates used to be per 3-4 months or so, but over time the gap widened, and now we have this mess.

Sorry as a dev I'm going to disagree with you here.

Depending on how much changes you want to make it is definitely easier to Redo a project from scratch then to re-factor.

Fix something here, causes other things to break, then fixing the things that break causes other side effect. Chasing some unknown bug in code you did not write yourself. And then spending hours and house on trying to think what went on in the other developer's mind when he did this or that, wastes a lot of time.

I have a few years ago agreed to do continue and debug an existing system (Granted it was not written with software I was familiar with at the time). It was a nightmare. If I had re-written the software (Even in the same technology) it would have taken me 3 months of lost time, but bug-fixed thereafter would have been hours instead of days.

Instead I continued on that broken piece of software with infinite bugs for about 5 months until I decided to pass that problem on to someone younger than me, with more energy and optimism and more desperate for money then myself. The owner refused for the application to be re-written as they already paid for the development (Sunken cost)

Seen as this is a project that DC still want to work on for years to come, I can see his rationale for re-writing it.

Is that a screenshot of an animation? Is that screenshot of an animation that is paused?

I understand that. I am not questioning that. The person posted a still image and complained about the quality of the art. So I am trying to figure out what their problem is with that image.

If that is from an animation - that screenshot is likely a tween image (for those that don't know, a tween is an image between two other images to give the illusion of motion when they are flipped through, sequentially). If their complaint is the motion blur - they are mistaken in what they may think is low quality (the extra art) that is actually tweening.

If they have another reason for their complaint about low quality - it would be helpful to know what they are pointing out.
