The good thing about this is that now we know there are people out there that can mimic Darkcookie's art style so he doesn't really have any excuse to not hire another artist.

there's a difference between using 3d models that are publicly available and models that are hand drawn and aren't available(if you have to dissect the game to extract them, it's not public). The fact there's no sexual content yet means that there won't be any original drawings. And if in future he/she adds more content that isn't on the same style as DarkCookie, then what's the point of using it in the first place other than attract initial patrons to pay? Imo tracing drawings to make it "your own" is just plagiarising. I wouldn't be surprised that this "game" creator is chinese

People here, including you, are "stealing" from creators by up- and downloading the works they hide behind a paywall or sell on the market. Therefore pretending we have the moral highground in a situation like this on the very same forum where it happens and we participate in it is a bit of a weak stance.
Is tracing bad? Maybe, probably. But what we do here is definitely bad. Tracing and drawing over existing stuff at least takes effort to do. Meanwhile we just steal stuff because we want to masturbate and don't care.

The difference is that we don't push stuff as our own. We steal it and consume it. He/she steal it and pretends to be the author of the item by making some changes. Yes tracing takes effort.. so what? Stealing takes effort too Imo plagiarising is way worse than theft. Not only author loses on profit. His work gets disrespected..

SummertimeSaga is a free game anyway, so it's not like playing it without being a patreon will cost DC any money. "Reselling" his art (and code?) on the other hand to make money is another point...
I actually quite like the mix that's presented here and it's rather decent up to this point. I think it could work well if they'd distance themselves a bit more from SS. Then again, I have no idea how serious this whole thing actually is...

Developer here, really didn't mean for this to blow up. Was trying to make a summertime saga / league of legends mash up because I thought it would be fun. There was a ton of work that went into it but it's true that original structure was based on the summertime saga game. As development moved along characters and locations diverged further from the original game (outside houses, arcade, mini games). In fact all the mini games are 100% unique and one of the things I thought was a major improvement. Future iterations are meant to push the story and style further in a unique direction. However, I'm not happy with the current state (which was suppose to be more of a proof of concept) and will be taking some steps moving forward. Patreon is down and will not be taking any donations.
