Do explain how in a game where there is no character customization at all other than name, and in which the MC has an extremely plot-relevant backstory, how the hell can the MC be "literally you"? Yes, you can choose what he does at certain times, and you can even name him after yourself if you want to, but is your mother's name Syla?

The MC even has personality regardless of your choices, there are certain things you can't even influence, its not like they only talk when you choose something to say. Calling the MC here a self-insert is like calling Shirou Emiya a self-insert.
because the MC is me? What's so hard to understand?

Even ww said the protagonist is me.... I don't know why some people are confused
"Blank slate" in so far as we shape his development through the course of the story.
"You/Us" as in the MC is the means by which we get to immerse ourselves into the world and story, not that the protagonist is us.

We can shape him, but we are not him.

My hope in humanity has been slightly restored, and for that I thank you.

I wonder if people who self insert think that they are the non human MC (the one that gets all the girls/has a comically big dick) or if they are the MC before the infection who is short, a virgin, and has a small dick in universe? (if MC friend being bullied is anything to go by) :BootyTime:

People legit take the self insert thing too far. You would rather waste your life away living a fantasy version of yourself instead of accepting who you are and improving yourself.

Wake up! You're not the main character irl. You don't have a harem or even a girlfriend if you're playing this game and you're probably addicted to porn.
People like you are the worst kind of community member. Why do you care if people self-insert? That is their preference. It doesn't hurt you.

Dude is shitting on the dev because his imaginary girlfriend got hurt on a super violent game. Its directly hurting the game i like. Are you fucking blind or are you upset because you self insert too?

While I do find the act of "self insertion" incredibly sad, I won't ever bring it up unless someone tries to use it enforce their own will on how something should be.

Self-insertion is key and is always guaranteed because of how a visual novel game is structured. Even if it is kinetic, because it needs the involvement of a third party to enable the actions of the main character, as this game has "choices" that are enabled by your action. It's way different from a book that's independent of anything you do.
It doesn't mean an ego trip either, as if you have choices to make, you will rationalize the best choice or what you want to see, and that's inserting yourself.

I think you and I both know there's a world of difference between making choices to lead the story in a certain direction and identifying yourself as the mc.

That, I agree. I also don't enjoy senseless power tripping and a main character that is a Super Gary Stu or Super Mary Sue elevated to infinity. I do have to say that using Gary Stu's or Mary Sue's as archetypes for main characters in amateur visual novels is great, as 99% of the developers and/or writers don't have any experience writing, and frankly, they suck ass. But... chill out with the character.

Whats the ETA on the update?
If WW timeline from a couple of weeks is still holding any day now. His releases are usually in the middle of the week and the week before release he usually puts out a little teaser image just like what happened last week so unless things are radically different this time we are looking at the next couple of days.

The problem isn't people who self-insert, it's the ones who carry that self-insert too far and stop seperating fiction from reality - they bitch about things that happened "to them", or the absolute worst that happens on these forums of people bitching about some fictional woman having sex in a game with other fictional characters that aren't "them".
