Makes sense, given the established difficulty with manipulating other people's biologies, much less other superhumans.
I disagree, it isn't a very ''established'' difficulty in my opinion. Personaly I feel like it's a hard nerf to the Mc's powers. His whole thing is that due to his memory based powers, he doesn't have to learn biology like a scientist would. It's what makes Ella praise his potential multiple times.
If with a single touch he can replicate a regular human's body perfectly then why is healing injuries such a dramatic feat ? With superhumans I can understand, although, as a currently uncommonly powerful level 3, his powers should dwarf a level one's so much that I think he should be able to heal or manipulate their bodies.
Ella at level 5 was able to cause a extreme transformation in Duncan by shapeshifting and transforming his body to a ridiculous degree, Duncan is a level 3. That's also a difference of two levels, so why should the Mc, as a fucking level 3, not only be unable to heal a level 1, but also barely heal a regular human ?
It is such a huge plot point to me, the fact that his potential lies in the harmony beetwen the two powers in him, Body and Memory. .
Personaly I'm not happy with retcons so late in a story, it's a bit silly. I don't want to criticize WW since I really love this game, but retcons this late are a bad sign.
Like others said, WW likely felt like he wrote himself into a corner by making the Mc's healing be too versatile or whatever, but trowing in a retcon is a cheap move. This things need to be set in stone in the beginning of the game. Not altered this late in the story, and certainly not with something as major as your main characters power sets

And it is a retcon, the Mc was able to manipulate human's biology to a extreme degree as shown in the Prison arc, he was also able to ( although admitedly a bit messily ), save Laurie's life by re-aranging her exploded neck, Laurie was a level 2, and the Mc had just gotten to level 3, yet his powers of shapeshifting saved her life, even though they were just one level apart ( I know that feat had some variable, such as Deryl's short assistance and the fact that he didn't heal her perfectly, but the point still stands, he, with just one level of difference, saved a level 2's life with his healing powers). And also he gave Jordan a fully working, big dick.
Case closed, this is a retcon, fuck retcons.
