I'm not sure how it's censored but neither landlady nor roommate make much sense with the setting.

Even among the handful of good ones many contain incest, it's just easier for me to suspend my disbelief in whatever nonsense is in the censored version than ruin my experience with incest

Nah, Raene is good because she's trans, her character wouldn't be the same without it. I like that Perverteer made Raene being trans totally canon unlike a few different games where you can choose if you want them to be trans or not. You don't have to romance Raene, but her character is her being trans.

Yeah I'm gonna disagree with Nadira and cxx on this one. Go ahead and play with (without, I guess? I can't keep track anymore) the patch; there is plenty of good stuff here even without the familial relationships. The story is definitely written as incest, but I think it's worth playing without as well.
If I remember right, in the censored version it's "step-sisters" and "step-mother" instead but since Patreon went all in against incest, it could be even more censored already.
This game is worth it by the space setting alone (not that it's the only good thing, just that it's enough reason to be played) if you are into space, enjoying incest isn't required by any means even if it's one of the main points. If you don't consider "step" as incest you could play like that with no problems.
You could even play the uncensored version and not romancing your family members if you wouldn't be into that, like you would in real life. There are many other LIs that aren't family.
I'm not heavily into incest but here it's presented in a way that's neither too overboard nor creepy, it's well blended with the drama and the family secrets of the past.
