I know you said you won't change her back, but I've been thinking about the Jade change quite a bit, and whilst I understand
Perverteer's trepidation at continuing to have a character that looks so much like a Twi'lek, I feel like this wasn't the right change to make. She's lost what made her special which is that she had an actual alien appearance, not just a different skin tone. Even if she does get a rich, detailed, cultural species background, it still takes a lot away from her character to not look as alien as she did.
For me, there were only 3 things that might have caused an issue with the big, corporate IP holder:
- The species name "Twill" is too closely derivative of Twi'lek
- There was a not-so-subtle inside joke about how they look exactly like a fictional species from hundreds of years ago
- Her appearance was the same as a Twi'lek.
These are the things that needed to be changed to avoid any problem, but Jade didn't need to have her defining physical characteristic removed. Instead, it could have been one or a combination of the following:
- If possible, apply the pronounced brow from the

- Give Jade pointy ears
- Use the

skin map which has body markings on the chest and sides of the torso which Twi'leks don't have
- Use a different skin map, like the one for the

- Apply the face make-up from the

model
- Reduce the size of the head tails to only be shoulder length
- Make one head tail long and the other short and have the long one always draped forward over her shoulder.
A combination of 2, 3, 5, and 6, or 2, 4, and 6, would have been more than ideal because this way she maintains the alien look that was so appealing about her in the first place, and when you add in a change to their species name (could call them Cauda which is Latin for 'tail'), that would have been more than enough to differentiate her and avoid any hypothetical copyright issues further down the line.
