I don't usually like creepy 3d uncanny valley art-style that's dominating western adult games.

But Irredeemable's creation is too hot to pass up.

Can't wait for the next update.

Creepy 3d uncanny valley art-style? What does that mean?
It has it's roots in robot design. Simply phrased, if it looks ALMOST human but isn't quite perfect then it will visually be "ugly" or "be unacceptable" to humans. For example, R2D2 (Star Wars) is obviously not human and thus doesn't elicit a negative response. Bishop (Aliens) looks human but doesn't quite act human, and is at the extreme end of the Uncanny Valley.

In essence, Obuttma is saying that the artwork (CGI) in games look human, but not human enough. Take a look at the Big Brother Fan Art section, in particular the posts by WBWB. (To make things a little easier, page 102, post 2025 and post 2039 are two examples.) On one side you will see a photograph of a model and on the other side you will see a render attempting to duplicate the model's pose and clothes. The difference in how "human" the model looks is part of the "uncanny valley".

Another example of how the Uncanny Valley is noticed - most 3D assets do not compress when touching an object. If you pick up a glass in your hands, the flesh on your fingers will flatten as you tighten your grip. That does not happen with a 3D model, and the human eye will pick that up. It is that kind of detail that triggers the "that's not real" flag, and for some people, having that flag set is upsetting.

With the weird facial features in most of the characters of this game, you can definitely say they are not approaching uncanny valley in the slightest.
