Puzzled why so much effort is being put into the Dotty bit. If it's that much hard work to put in what is effectively a joke scene why bother? Would make a lot more sense to focus on real characters in the game that people are more invested in.

I agree with this, but I also have seen that Deem is a stickler for details and a perfectionist, sometimes to his credit and sometimes to his detriment. He has stated that he is highly motivated to release a 2.0 version that will preserve saves moving forward, so releasing a version now only to release a follow-up version later with added prior benefits isn't what he wants to do. I would rather wait to play a fully realized update than play a partially complete update that requires me to replay elements implemented later.

I understand where Deem is coming from with this, but frankly I don't think that there's enough content to warrant this much concern.

Most other Ren'py games have hours of content that it would take you to play through in full. If you have done everything in the current version it would take around 20-30 minutes to "skip" through all of the content in the current version to catch up to a new version if your save was not compatible.

Not perfect, sure, but at this point I think it's more important that Deem focuses on finishing an update than on buttressing the core mechanics.

Might be your antivirus program deleting it. A popular guess is McAfee. It is known for false alarms. Try whitelisting tp.exe, or the entire game folder.

Saying "if you don't like, don't come" is really narrow minded, I have to agree on the fact that quite a few people are coming here just to spit at the game and at the pace of updates, but that was bound to happen when you delay a deadline for months, and it's a valid argument, being wrong by a few days is fine, even a month if you decide the current state is not worth it, but doing it alot of times, multiple months in a row is just asking to get bashed by people, it's really frustrating for some people.

Especially if you don't have anything to show for it (in terms of a stable, full release) even after another month of intense pre-alpha, alpha and 9............5 testing. That's what quite a few people criticize, not that the fact he takes his time with pretty much everything, but the fact that he sets deadlines that nobody can ever trust and stuff like that.

If playing 1.632 that should work fine, if playing v1.9 then "d.Romance = ##" is the new "cheat".

You get charged at the beginning of the month so you have a full day to terminate your funding. Do it. Who knows, maybe one day there will be something worth funding but for now just save your money and run. You're not funding a game anymore. You're funding either a developer caught in his obsessive mania, or just a hoax. Whether this is intentional or unintentional stalling to get past next payday, I'll leave up to you to decide.

Deem is making himself look very bad. Missed deadline after missed deadline (worse than the infamous Gumdrop) and now he's saying he has no idea when release will be because he's working on features that won't actually be added until "several more updates" meaning most likely at least several months. I really just don't understand.

I think he just needs to release whatever he's got right now, accept the criticism, try and squash any bugs and set himself some sort of update schedule, even if it means releasing something incomplete or buggy. Yes, incomplete and/or buggy updates suck but you know what sucks even more? No updates. At all. Ever. How did we go from "before the end of December" to "well, it's February and I have no idea when this update will release"?

even Sagas of Daughter Saga put himself on the charge per major update schedule. i can’t criticize him for any delays now (he once promised 5 different release dates in a month).

anyways, i would agree with @irezawa here. withhold pledges for now until something concrete comes out.

deem has stated that after 2.0 drops he’ll do a biweekly update schedule as he did before when he first started the game. THAT to me will rebuild credibility after this Patreon fiasco.

Yeah yeah, 2.0 is on its way, but that's the only thing that kept things going for over a month now and that's all that kept negative criticism at bay at all. Even this 99995 version is far from finished, not as a whole game, but even for 2.0. The whole was a "I'm still doing stuff" thing, so even if it's a big no no to criticize it was basically a lie that the version would be ready. At the moment it looks almost like a 5 year playing with fire, testing the boundaries for how far he can go before the house burns down.

What strikes me as odd is that there are almost no more "But he's such a great and honest guy" people, seems to me like they either know what's up or they got tired of defending his fruitless promises. I'd really love to see what the patreon comments look like after all the missed deadlines.

I think they all are tired of the constant comments that the game is abandoned, Deem is untrustworthy, why is D now FES, that sucks big time, etc.

If you want to see all the patreon comments, you just need to pledge like the other patrons, then be the upstanding person that you are and pull your pledge before payout day just like it has been posted on this page.

Give us all a break and go away until (or if, in your opinion) the game is released. Then we can get back to the discussion of which is hotter, D, or W.

The monthly payment model sucks, even if you only pay $5 per month you'd end up with a full price for a game that's not worth that kind of money and if you take a look at games like BB or DMD, they'll be left unfinished as they are after the next update, so yeah. Not really a good investment. I wouldn't have a problem with paying let's say $20, but any more is just not worth the wait, in case of patreon the risk, and the price.
