GAMEPLAY: A-TIER [BUT YOU NEED THE RIGHT MINDSET]


Basic gameplay loop is as follows:

TRY TO MEMORIZE MAP > RUN LIKE HECK FUCK > KILL BOSS TO SAVE CREW MEMBER AND EARN CUTSCENE > SAVE GAME > REPEAT

You WILL take 'unavoidable' damage - BY DESIGN - which is in line with the panic-horror theme common to the many old space movies this game references.

'Unavoidable' damage opportunities increase as gameplay progresses - the enemies will spawn more frequently and tentacle floors are introduced [the damage IS avoidable but this is very hard without trial-and-error].

You DO get like 8 'free' suit hits before you ever have to juggle your arousal meter each round.

It is not a hard game if you learn to stop lollygagging and follow the RUN LIKE HECK FUCK strategy.

I was surprised to see so many bitches commenting here and struggling with such a simple concept - I would understand this pathetic mindset better if the player got one-shot, but you can take many 'free' hits and also reset the 'impending doom' status with common drops after reaching 100% arousal - so unfortunately I can only conclude that some of you are pathetic and maybe just want to be mindbroken by tentacles?

The many references to Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey, etc. were a nice touch - such a great little game.

Interesting way to defend questionable design choices like:
  • ammo not refilling, when you come back after a boss.
  • enemies spawning out of nowhere right in front of you
  • not being able to shoot over structures, that get ignored by tentacles
  • throwing so much shit at you, that you can't take the time to read the system messages
There is horror. And then there is tentacles out of nowhere.
I am not fearing things. I am annoyed by the stuff that happens.

Great art and atmosphere though otherwise. I agree to the nice sci-fi/horror references.

The art is good but some of the game design choices are frustrating, mainly enemies spawning right on top of you which doesn't help when you can only aim at fixed angles.

what a good game with great art and animation. Enjoyed their previous games as well
Too bad the content is lackluster with reused animation for the crews.

The kind that makes you want more but you know there wouldn't be any. The potential..

Are there only bad ends
I play the game twice and both giving me bad end
my game play , As I am from hk , i play chinese version , idk if the sve can use on other version , pls enjoy
press H in the main menu can find something

Pretty cool but a bit frustrating. Restarting the same route over and over after each rescue was a bit unecessary. But unusual gameplay and cool design !
