Honestly there is something so insanely special about this game, no other comes even close. If nothing comes of this I might pick a project up myself as a spiritual successor. I know how to 2D and 3D art to a pretty good standard, just need a little bit of programming knowledge to get me going. I've done projects in unity and unreal so I've got grounds to get going.
I've got some personal life things to finish up but once I have, this is a serious contender for a project. It would just be so hard to capture that special something this game has
No offence to Meandraco, but the pace of progress for a game like this is not something that can sustain a fan base or get a game actually done in the long run.

Perfection is the enemy of progress after all.
There's nothing stopping you doing so despite of the state of Teraurge (Luckily they can't patent ideas and Meandraco is not Nintendo or WB). The more the merrier
The "Specialness" comes from Meandraco's Artistic Vision, and I don't think it's something that can be replicated.
Coding and Engineering is the ground work and it can solidify a project greatly, what really matters (To audiences) is the creativity on top of that (sadly).
But I don't think you need to be a "spiritual successor" (IMO that's more of a Marketing Term), Every game is an iteration, you took inspiration and do your own spin on it.

The only thing stopping me is my current work load, I am completely swamped so it's hard to get my foot in the door with something like this.
The vision that Meandraco has is done so well, the world just feels alive and teeming with so much lore that it's really more of a worldbuilding project than a game project, it's something you need to take so mcuh time to consider to even get remotely good. I think the creativity aspect of this game is in its gameplay with how free and open it is to do what you want, which is what I'd like to replicate if I were to make something of my own (plus of course the terato stuff in the game)

I was thinking of making a solid mod for the game at some point with some homebrew creatures, but again life got in the way and not being able to create new locations is quite limiting. I was working with someone way back to make a subni expansion mod together but that fell apart when I stopped hearing back from them :(

Now that I think about it, I have a completely unrelated worldbuilding side project that could probably be tweaked and retrofitted to be a great setting for a game like this, set on a world with very low gravity since I've already designed a lot of creatures for that world. This might be a great starting point for me :D

IIRC MD has made mod support available for Teraurge, so if you want you can look up his tutorials on the wiki on his blog page and make the mod you wanted to make. I don't know how complex or fleshed out this system is, but apparently you can edit character dialogues and backgrounds, which should be plenty enough to make something that doesn't take that much of your time.

Yeah I know, but there's 0 support for adding your own locations, so it's quite limiting in that sense, I did the illustrations mostly for the mod we were working on, that was years ago though, I think I remember posting some of the pics in this thread. You are right about it being really simple to add in characters and bgs, I'm surprised there haven't really been any mods made for this game.
I am going to fet started on the world of mine tonight and slowly chip away at it over the coming months

ctrl+m opens in-game map editor but it might be broken at least that I have found in either case I made a map file editor using python and to avoid having to install all of python and the required libraries to make it work there is an exe version in the read me and much to what you'd expect python is kind of shit so my editor is not perfect but its better than nothing maybe always make backups

Yes, and you know it, I'm still working on the game.
No way, the real meandraco! I love your stuff! Dont care how long it has took so far, your game is a gem. There is no game like it, one of a kind. One of the exotic experiences i always wished i could forget to play it again blind. There is just not enough of games featuring beastiality and open world. Atleast not the alien kind ;).

I hope you are doing well and while ik the game is prob still a ways off to the next version, i pray for its completion. I need more of it, the characters, the story, the ART! Know that no matter how long it takes, there are countless of people supporting you! If you decide to put a price on the game, i will gladly support you with my wallet! Have a great day and hope to see more of the game in the future!

Unironically the only things that make the game "special" are the music and the fact that it's the only weird monster fucking game on the market. There's no world where v3 isn't a disappointment considering how high expectations are. I'm not surprised meandraco is never releasing it.

Who's even hyped about v3? What expectations? It's just same as v2 but ported to unity with improvements and new content.

With art assets at my hands I could port v2 to unity with "improvements" in a few months. And that's only because I never touched Unity before. Come on mate.
Well clearly you're a mighty specimen with multiple games under your belt, but what does that have to do with expectations or hype? Also you're free to port v2 to unity, the art assets are very accessible in the sub folders. I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate a v2 unity port.

I don't really follow the progress but I'm really looking forward to this game and I'm wondering why there is little to no data on the progress of development or maybe details on progress or am I just looking in the wrong place?
