If a company went 3 years without showing any kind of progress or result to their investors/publishers, the latter would twist their arm about it. That's how I see things.
So thats why facebook created meta universe, to show that they actually do something.

The red squares you see here are placeholder items to showcase inventory size.

I also got news about the combat... and I'm trying my best to comprehend it.
I think it means that you can get more points with practise (morrowind style), you can also mod new ones with scripting, and only skills with points may mean that we can get other skills like ex: learn how yo make a origami frog, you dont need skill points for that

That's only my take, I'm probably wrong.

No, the stuff about combat is something that I didn't talk about here yet.
So...

You got both static checks:
4 points are needed in Analysis to pass -> you have 4 -> you passed

Or non-static:
2 points are needed to pass -> you have 4 (in a stat or skill) -> you roll a d4 (4-sided die) -> result determines if you passed or not

It's gonna be like Dungeons and Dragons I think. With combinations of static bonuses and die rolls. I think points in skills are only going to represent the maximum die you can roll when they are checked.
Example:
10 points in melee = d10 melee roll

A combination of this would look like (if my theories are correct):
10 points in melee + 4 points in brawn + 4 points in finesse = d10 melee roll + 4 + 4

Situational checks:

The Witch isn't going to send you out like some kind of errand boy. It makes sense considering she just met you and has no reason to trust you with something like this.

I hope MD adds some of the stream art as random encounters. Might as well since it's in universe, especially the feral stuff. I suppose it would be easy to mod it in anyways, but seems like a very low effort way to add a lot of quality art considering it's already drawn.

(I edited my post several times trying to find the right words to express my point. Your comment was posted 40 minutes after my last edit, yet it is still quoting my old post. Glad to know I'm not the only one who can spend an an eternity writing an answer...)

Whether the product is being distributed for free doesn't matter in the least. MD made his game public and is accepting money for it. Because we live in a capitalist world, when money's involved, people assume they are entitled to a few things about the product, or in this case, the development and process of thereof. Patreon is a platform where services are exchanged for money and this has led content creators developing a flexible attitude in an attempt to attract more costumers. As a result, people have come to expect Patreon products to be something they can mold to their whims.

If MD has a different philosophy then he should make it loud and clear instead of relying on word of mouth. Some of the "negativity" surrounding this game could have been avoided with better transparency, as this isn't your standard Patreon game, moved by money, that shifts and changes to accommodate people's desires. There would be complaints regardless, but at least then it wouldn't have been by a lack of warning... At least now I can temper my expectations about this game.
My guy, that's not how that works. First of all, that's not your money and I've no reason to believe you speak for the people who are supporting the artist. Second of all, if you're throwing money at someone without understanding what you're paying for, that's 100% on you.
people assume they are entitled to a few things about the product
Well, if you meet any of them, you can tell them to get bent.

All these news, wow. The combat system sounds complicated in a good way, can't wait to get my hands on that.
Can't emphasize enough how much life seeing this thread thrive gives me. Ano, you're an angel, your every post is that shot of "everything will be alright" juice that we all need. No matter how things are, the sweet sweet nectar of xeno goodness is upon us.
Now with that aside, question to Ano85 - could you clarify what exactly your relation with MD is? I've been neglecting to join the teraurge server, so enlighten me here - does MD share this stuff publicly and you're just the one kind soul to repost it here, or are you an honest-to-god bona fide insider?

I'm one of MD's close friends if we can call it that. I've known him for at least 3-4 years now since the Picarto days. We had a rocky start because I was an entitled little bastard like many people complaining here but I ended up changing for the better.

We have our own discord server as MD was against making an official TU discord... and then people ended up making an unofficial one anyway. It has 800~ members currently and I gotta say people don't regret joining in. It's a comfy server with a surprising amount of camaraderie. MD posts info there every now and then (when he has anything substantial to show). I noticed that f95 has a teraurge thread and I started relaying the information here. It's a lot of fun, seeing people get excited here about the updates.

I'm technically an insider too. A bunch of info I shared here and on the unofficial discord wasn't shared to people yet. MD doesn't share much with us either however. Compared to the info shared on the unofficial discord and here, I have seen exactly one V3 art that wasn't shared anywhere else. I'm not going to share that, it's a pretty heavy content spoiler even without any context. If I get my hands on the V3 beta, then you can maybe expect some info. Things that are not spoilery, and if MD approves.

Quite a few people in MD's server are future contributors and we do our best to support him. I think V3 will have a contributor project in it, and I trust that it will be more in-line with the writing and gameplay rules MD has set out compared to Sulee.

If anyone decides to join the server, you can ask questions from MD there (don't forget to check the pinned comments). You also better get ready for the onslaught of lyluks, nothing can stop them.

Unrelated:
About the combat. MD sometimes lurks here and just told me that the die rolls won't have static bonuses. So it's not that close to Dungeons and Dragons. Instead of d6+5 like I imagined, it's just d6 for example.

I see a lot of people defending the extremely long update time. It ranges from it's a passion project, but if it really is one there's not much passion at least compared to his request streams, to he's working on it. Guys no game should take 3 years to update, at that point it's either abandoned, forgotten or the dev is making an entire brand new game. I'd love to see more updates but sadly the creator isn't really that invested, he's more focused on art requests and streaming I mean he does it almost daily. So don't hold out for hope that if we get an update it'll be anything huge and don't take as it'll now get update frequently, it won't the game isn't a priority and most likely won't ever be

It takes a special kind of person to complain about someone and how they spend their time on their hobbies.

In a way, MD is making a "new" teraurge game
Yes, you are right. And not just because of the Unity port. Entire systems in the game have been redesigned and new ones are being added. Stat system, overworld travel, combat, dialogue, dialogue checks, "travel within a settlement" so far have been changed.

V1 and V2 had quite a few things MD wasn't happy about. Just think about the existence of the perception stat that has been crossed out in V2. He also hated the overworld travel.

I'll never understand this kind of mentality. Imagine coming home from work and being hounded by entitled anons to make more free shit for them like you owe them something.

Who said I was complaining? Not me, I've measly stated the facts surrounding the project. Also you got 2 things wrong this isn't a hobby, it's his job. He does artwork, commissions, livestreams and collects payment from it and in a hobby it's something personal you don't collect money. Also complaining isn't the same a criticism, there's a lot of things wrong surrounding the game such as lack of updates, lack of communication, lack of tangible work meaning something the public can actually play and so on.

If he's doing commissions, then Teraurge definitely isn't his job. Just because he's getting paid for art and art streams, doesn't mean he has to specifically work on Teraurge. Fact of the matter is, Teraurge is something he's working on for free on top of doing art.

Okay, so what's the source on:

Wasn't it mentioned that he does have a full-time job, though?
