I've completed all the content available (I think), but I have two character profiles that are still showing silhouettes instead of character art. One is a student to the left of Belle's entry. The other is a special guest -- the first one shown.
Are these simply placeholders for characters that haven't been introduced yet, or am I actually missing something?

Hey! It depends how many versions your save file stretches. The one to the left of Belle is Raya. I forgot to unlock her a couple of updates ago but since fixed. If you load a save of just before the porn store arc, and play the beginning of it, you'll unlock her permanently. (Play until you get the notification jingle and the unlock card coming in from the left of the screen)
The first Cameo is Lucy from Between Humanity. You can unlock her right at the start of the game, after the MC finishes his breakfast with Suzie.

Sounds like a restart is in order then. Oh noes! (seriously enjoying what you've got so far, keep it up!)
You don't need to restart, since unlocking characters is persistent irrelevant of saves. Once you unlock them once, you've unlocked them forever
so you just need to load a save for near the part with Raya in the pornstore, and right at the start of the game for Lucy

According to the changelog, all this does is add some translations, fix some typos, and clean up a few old renders to match newer ones. Don't get too excited. Unless that's your kink, no shaming from me.

Yeah, if the changelog is both accurate and complete, there's no new content. And unless the next release somehow depends on you having made a save with this release today (8.5), your saves should work fine when 8-point-whatever (or 9.0) is released.
