And now you have beaten that reference with a "Thin Blue Line. Inspector Grimm" reference.. top quality!loving the Douglas Adams references, a porn game with culture... a very rare creature indeed.. almost as rare as the triple breasted whore of Eroticon 6
I agree totally with what your saying, HS is not "that" bad if used well, my main issue with most HS games is they are usually written in "Engrish" and toons have melons as big as ya head.. in this game they look pretty normal, and have more western like eye shapes. The writing is also great, couple of typos here and there but you can tell its written by Englishman and not Engrishman. The reviews of this game, which all seemed pleased but almost all brought up something I have heard from about 4 different games recently. "I hate Honey Select, but this game is good". I do not know much about much, but this trend makes me wonder if perhaps - people hate that HS has been used for a bunch of lazy cash-grabs, but that there is nothing inherently wrong with HS at all. It seems to me, every time someone who really is trying to do something special uses HS, everyone says the same thing.
I do not like 99% of TV shows, but I do not throw my TV out the window simply because "American Idol" exists. I just look for those very few quality shows, and hope one day they make more "Firefly".
I can totally understand your frustration. However, I think we can both see that the reason most HS games are written in "engrish" is that HS has been used, more often than not, by Asians. They tend to speak "engrish", because it is very different from their native tongue, and frankly, if I had to speak Japanese or Cantonese...I would be far worse at it than they are at speaking English. I just do not think it entirely fair to judge a creator by their ability to learn a completely different language (or most often, probably, use google translate). It is not a reflection on their ability or effort, and it is certainly not a reflection on HS as a program.I agree totally with what your saying, HS is not "that" bad if used well, my main issue with most HS games is they are usually written in "Engrish" and toons have melons as big as ya head.. in this game they look pretty normal, and have more western like eye shapes. i agree with all you say tbh, and i do try to at least give Asian made game the benefit of the dout and play them for as long as i can, sometimes i can get over the language/culture barrier and enjoy the work they have done, but other times i just give up, it just one of those things really. Mostly Subjective opinion at the end of the day. I've enjoyed such HS and i think Asian made games as Harem Hotel, Ecchi Sensei, Waifu Academy , Mystic Manor, to name but a few.. and now i think about it, they are just as many Bad western games as there are Bad Asian ones, it's just the culture/language Barrier is a little hard to jump sometimes.I can totally understand your frustration. Can humans be "racist" toward a 3D rendering software? Because that is what this is - it is prejudice based on factors that have nothing at all to do with the value of the software's utility or functionality.
I do not blame the gun, if someone gets shot. (That is not to say I think it wise to let every human have an assault rifle.) You can dislike 20 HoneySelect games, without disliking HoneySelect, I think.
As to the looking less Asian aspect, I can also understand. I personally, like beautiful women of any ethnicity, equally I think but Asian features do tend to be exaggerations of standard ideals of femininity (large eyes, even slanting upwards, was a trope of femininity as far back as the egyptian empire. Petite, youthful (they do age better than most ethnic groups, due I assume mostly to diet) -these are traits that, almost every male on earth finds appealing even if they do not admit it. I am certainly not saying you must find Asian women appealing, and certainly not most appealing, but I would struggle to understand if you honestly could not find Ziyi Zhang at all appealing in "Crouching Tiger". There are perhaps two poles - one being the voluptuous, woman who signals "successful breeding" to the male human, and the petite woman who inherently just makes a male feel more "masculine" when she is pressed against him. That is of course not to say that there is not infinite cross-over between those poles, but Asian women do, more than any other ethic group, serve the latter extreme in both physical stature and mannerism. Even Disney cartoons, for 60 years, have given blonde princesses a few overtly asian characteristics - because those characteristics "attack" a certain part of the male psyche.I agree totally with what your saying, HS is not "that" bad if used well, my main issue with most HS games is they are usually written in "Engrish" and toons have melons as big as ya head.. in this game they look pretty normal, and have more western like eye shapes. Yup. Exactly that. There are 20 HS games I don't like - and an equal percentage of every other software I dislike. Good list, by the way. I agree completely. Some of the most amazing games here (even with some "engrish").i agree with all you say tbh, and i do try to at least give Asian made game the benefit of the dout and play them for as long as i can, sometimes i can get over the language/culture barrier and enjoy the work they have done, but other times i just give up, it just one of those things really. The same is happing with me, here is the log:I don't know what I'm doing wrong but everytime I'm starting it up I get the game engine screen and it closes itself after a few seconds
I'm generally not too fond of HS art because:The reviews of this game, which all seemed pleased but almost all brought up something I have heard from about 4 different games recently.
