Hello! Life is going great and so are the Blades. Things were a little slow this month in terms of renders as I was getting a lot of learning on how to optimize and improve my work.
Renders 220/1500.
Scenes 0/8.
Automation & Landscapes
Extremely late to the game, but apparently there is a way to automate and batch produce renders without having to be there. I am pretty good at knowing what specifications I need so I will now be able to walk away from rendering after selecting and saving the specific way I want a scene to go. Frees me from the monotony of render production. Also allows me to be a little more bold with my scenes. I have a very good gaming computer and even that one gets overloaded by the size of some scenes and 4-5 characters are the max without applying some kind of trick. I have a lot of tricks, but if I can just walk away for 3 days and let my computer hash out the scenes I want back to back, honestly, that's a game changer.
Post-Processing: There is a lot of depth to this entire process. Post processing of images after they are rendered seems like a lot of work, but I ended up having to look into it for a new side game that I wanted to work on. Above is one of the simplest little changes you can make with free software like GIMP. It takes minimal time and hopefully we can see some further improvements to the visuals.
Codex: Someone asked me for a codex and while I thought that was ridiculous at first, I feel like it may be useful to the game and the player. I burned a couple of days working on adapting an existing one into Blades, and the above character backgrounds are reflections of codex entries. These are low priority things that I will slowly update. Hopefully I can easily carry them over into future chapters and other games.
August Update
Hi, sorry for the delay in getting an update this month. I don't think I'm ever going to be consistent with this stuff, unfortunately.
Renders: 500/1500 (lowering the goal)
Scenes: 3/7 plus variations (3/14ish)
I've fallen behind in terms of pacing. Developing a lead point for character chats and scenes took longer than expected.
I still have quite a bit to do so probably next release is going to be more than a month away. I'll drop what I have on October 7th.
