I personally liked the old Hazel, but it's your choice. I just thought she was so sexy and unique to look at! Now she looks too much like the aunt.
I've posted a public poll on my patreon to see which people prefer, cast your vote, winner will be the final design.

Hi Cell

I've noticed something odd with sisters appearance.
Or it's just me thinking her glasses, depending on angle, makes her face look different.
To me her face looks slightly different front. left or right angle.
Maybe it's the shift in perspective??

Which images was it? she has been redesigned since the original post and I just haven't updated it yet so it is possible you're seeing different designs :p

Development Update - 06-04-2020

Been really busy working on the other game but I really really want to spend more time back on the cabin to, which is why I've decided to split my time with both games, I may only be able to work on the cabin at night or weekends but it's better than not working on it at all.

With everything going on in the world right now, it doesn't look like I'll have access to cloud rendering anytime soon, they keep pushing back my pre-order so it looks like it'll still be a few months before I'll have anything to release anyway.

Another thing I wanted to say was I've been talking with a few others developers and people around F95 and everyone is saying you should never release a game until you're 100% happy with it and if I'm being honest, I'm not happy with the work I put into episode 1 and with working on the other game I've learnt a lot of new things which is why I've decided, I'll be not only re-designing all the characters, I'll also be upgrading them to Genesis 8.

I normally use Genesis 3 but after seeing some of the things you can do with Genesis 8, I think it's the right choice to make, I know not everyone will be happy with this but as I said above, it wouldn't be a good idea to release a game I'm not happy with it, a lack of being happy would mean a lack of interest in the game, and I'd hate to not be interested in my own game.

My man, are you joking there? 100% rule?
Common, one thing i learned is that you will never gonna be 100% happy/satisfied with your game, or any other work, as it always could be done if not better atm, than at least just a bit different, just enough..
So if youre aiming to fulfill the 100% rule, it would be better to drop this game/project sooner than later...
The game should be like a fruit, when the time come it will drop from its tree, and it gonna be no perfect, nor the tree will be 100% happy, yet the fruit will be delicious. ;)

If I'm correct, wouldn't you be able to import your characters into Genesis 8 and then just edit them to look more realistic afterwards? That would save you a lot of time, I think.

I don't mind the wait. There are so many solid porn games out there that I have to occupy myself with; I guarantee that the rest of the community here can say the same. On the other hand, I've played some REALLY BAD 0.1 demos that were not worth the bandwidth or hard drive space, so...

Go at your own pace. Your future fans will definitely appreciate it more. :)

If I'm being honest, I think what keeps happening is I work on the game, I'm happy with it, then a play another game with better graphics and I'm like "Huh, I want mine to look like this." and it's a habbit I need to get out of, lol.

There are very few artists that are ever 100% happy with their work, even pros. The ones that are completely happy with what they've produced tend to often be douchebags that are full of themselves. Artists never stop learning their craft, they never stop striving to be better, so I agree with Abhai. Just make what you're making, get something into the wild and get that ball rolling.

The beauty of the way that you and many devs here are approaching your projects is that it can always be changed later. Lingering in the development cycle with updates over months or years allows for a lot of flexibility as far as rebuilds or fixing things retrospectively go. Many devs will work with placeholder assets and swap them out during development. And many VN devs go back and replace renders, FFCreations has been doing that with recent updates of Freeloading Family, it's not a huge deal. So by all means just build your game with grainy potato renders if you have to for now, and replace those images later.
It can be problematic if you're going to do complete redesigns of characters partway into a started project because you can piss off some of the fans of those characters, which is an issue that SLim has had with the Landlady character in The Awakening, so avoid that and nail down your designs before they're introduced into a build. Similar can be said about big plot points but dialogue edits can be quite common.
Getting something out there is great for getting valuable feedback too which feeds back into the rework thing if you let it.

I understand first impressions are important, but if everyone knows to expect reworks then whatever you put out should be received fairly. Some of the earliest versions of some of the top tier games around here were kinda trash but they worked out because the dev stuck it through. In fact, getting roasted on the first few pages of a thread for a game's first few releases is kind of a tradition.
You just really have to work your hook well. Give people a reason to call back to see how things progress next time.

The reason I think it's really important to get something into the wild though, for you specifically, is that I think you could benefit greatly if you can get some patrons handing you some money. Your biggest hurdle seems to be your rig not being up to the task of reaching the bar you're setting yourself. Some funding to help procure a new rig or upgrade your existing one, or even to help fund the farm method you're keen on would help things along a lot.

You don't want to be waiting around on something forever or your game will never get made.
Good luck.

Development Update - 01-05-2020

First off, welcome to May, Hopefully the final level of Jumanji.

It's been a while since my last update, as most of you probably know, I took a job working for another game and The Cabin and somewhat been sat on the side lines waiting for me to pick it back up again.

I wanted to post a quick update to let you guys knows I'm still working away on it, development hasn't stopped completely and I am still working away in my spare time.

As most of my time is focused on working on WTHI, I don't have time to work on renders for The Cabin, which is why, I've decided to focus all my spare time on the script, I'm currently half way through the script for episode 3 and plan to have that finished by the end of the week. Once I'm done with episode 3, I'll begin on episode 4.

I can't really work on the renders simply because I both don't have time & I still don't have access to cloud rendering, I was supposed to get access in March but since the Covid outbreak they've put all further releases on hold for the foreseeable future. Which basically means I haven't a clue when I'll be getting it.

Until next time, stay safe.

Development Update + News - 05/05/2020

First off, I'll start with the news, I finally now have access to Cloud rendering, which means ( as soon as I've uploaded my Daz assets to it ) I can start rendering the game. Do keep in mine though, I do still work for WTHI and I'll only be rendering for The Cabin in my spare time, but Cloud rendering does offer a lot of speed which means I should still be able to get quite a first of my own renders done in a day.

Now onto the update, I'm still working away on episode 3's script, it has around 20 scenes and I'm currently working on writing scene 9.

Also, on the advice of ꜱᴛᴀɢᴡᴏᴏᴅ, I've decided to heed his advice and not change the character designs, what I'll do instead is with each update I'll simply tweak the lighting as I improve, that being said, here's what the final characters look like:

mc.png
Main Character ( You )

hazel.png
Hazel ( Mom ):

dad.png
David (Dad )

emma.png
Emma ( Sister )

aunt.png
Anna ( Aunt )

Those are the final designs, I'll be doing no more poll's or anything about changing the deisgn of the characters. That being said, who knows, one day the girls might take a trip to the salon so you may need to vote on new hair styles, if I decide to do that xD

Also, while I'm here, I want to introduce you to a new character:

lib_girl_mom.png

I didn't want the new Mom design to go to waste so I decided to still use her in the game, she doesn't have a name right now but she is Harpers Mom.

And that's all I have for you, hope you're all doing okay and stay safe!

Development Update - 09-05-2020

This is more of just a general update really to what I've been doing and what the plans are going forward I guess.

Going to kick it off with some good news, I finally have access to cloud rendering, just finished putting all my assets into a rar file ( 160GB ) and uploading it to Mega, believe me, 160gb uploading to mega is no fast thing, took me 4 days to get the damn thing uploaded. Luckily, shadow gives 1GB download speeds so downloading it has been a lot faster. Once I've finished rendering some stuff for Episode 17 of WTHI, I plan on starting some Cabin renders.

Next, today I finished the script for episode 3 and got 3 scenes into episode 4, so the script is coming along nicely. But about the script, I feel like it was progressing a little slow, which is why I've decided to push something from episode 8, forward to episode 5 which should help progress the story a little.

Speaking of episode 5, although I haven't got the script done for it yet, I do know a scene that'll be in it and I want to share a little taster of it here:

U1 = Unknown Person 1
U2 = Unknown Person 2
AT = Action Text ( Text descriping what someone is doing in the scene )

U1 - Get on the fucking ground bitch!
U2 - No, please, you don't have to do this.
AT - Gun pressed against the back of her head, U1 forces her to the ground.
U1 - You'll fucking pay for what you did to him!
U2 - Who?...what are you talking about?
AT - *Click*...she hears the sound of the gun being cocked behind her head.
AT - Tears streaming down her face, pleaing is pointless...U1's mind is set!
AT - *BANG*...The gun goes off...followed by the sound of the thud on wet leaves.
AT - She's dead!

I'm by no means a good writer and this isn't a finished version of the script, but it's just a teaser for what's to come :p

Development Update - 30/05/2020

It's been a good while since the last update and I don't really have to much new to report on.

Still working on WTHI and we're just about to release episode 17. As for The Cabin, I somewhat stopped on the writing for episode 4 simply because I've been so busy with WTHI, but now that ep17 is almost done I'll be able to start on that again.

I also now have a new GPU, managed to get my hands on a 1080 ti thanks to CG ( the boss :p ).

I've started rendering episode 1 of the trip but be warned, it's going to take a long time to render, I've so far rendered around 15 images and episode 1 has a minimum of 400 images...soooo yeah :p

Here's a quick preview:
