He hasnt brought up his family in a year or so (I think). You are missing something here... RanneRo doesnt give a fuck about releasing the game as soon as possible at this point because he is doing it for himself. If people give him money... great for him! but thats no legal or moral obligation. Sell the project? given deadlines? dude Rannero isnt doing any favours to anyone... this is his golden egg goose.
I seriously dont understand how can someone come up with something like "sell the project to someone else if you cant finish it" Its his idea and project and vision why would he give his OWN given "burden" to someone else? Oh and yeah... he gave himself deadlines but thats the funny thing... he gave it to himself which means he doesnt have to answer to anyone. Greedy mf is probably spending more time training his AI to draw art for him and milk games for years to come. No moderator defended him since 2020. Having more than 1 braincel means acknowledging that the game is very flawed starting from the RPGMaker choice. The scripting of events which is borrowed from Rhode Fortress dev and happens to be inefficient and that also affects (if im not mistaken) how assets for each scene are drawn. Gameplay is horrible: no journal, no clear objectives, kinetic story and combat mechanics that suck and will probably never be used again. The only good thing about the "game" is that Yuuki is cute looking and sucks Boo's dick. Thats about it and its not gonna get much better because Rannero wont draw anus for her (no anal ever), no bestiality (could also say there wont be any stuff like shibari or bdsm), and no feet (at least 0.9 will have some armpit action). Oh and dont forget the "exposure" mechanic or whatever its called which doesnt have much purpouse outside events with Boo. The best you can get is comments from villagers about your nudity and/or title but thats not even a good feature nor even finished.

like i said, the only people who will defend him are his patreons and mods. case in point.

Rant time. I am coming back to this game after an extremely long time and damn.....still no update. I went through the discord and patreon posts and looks like he is working on the game, just not giving us anything more than a few images. And now he has started using AI to make his cg. How r these people still supporting him and waiting for updates. Any sane person would've stopped like 2 years ago. But oh well.....it is what it is. He seems to have set quite a lot of goals for this year. The new update better have some insane amount of content. End of rant.

Well let me put this in a way maybe someone like you could understand. If 2 people use the same tools to make the same product and one succeed and the other one don't, then most observers, at least the ones who aren't completely ignorant, would conclude the problem lies in the person operating the tool. You don't even need to think hard to get this one my friend.

I doubt you understand how coding works if you think that an engine without any kind of error handling is okay. I'm not defending the dev, I just replied to a guy who wondered why he doesn't hire a new coder, to which the answer is: "ancient shitty engine with tedious, repetitive code (from the ScaleGarden framework) so barely anyone would be interested and trust issues because the previous guy left him".

Not a single person here is saying he knows exactly what he's doing people are pointing out that this version of RPGM is fucking trash because it is. To say "uhhh other people make it work fine" Is stupid because that's an irrelevant observation. There was a point in time like a year and a half ago where I would have used that for a legitimate defense for him but at this point it's not an acceptable excuse it's just enough to say it's slowing him down even more from his already existing incompetence.

Easy... he is GREEDY. Is it that hard to understand? He is willing to let others "help" aka do work for free but doesnt want to bother hiring a coder because he would have to pay them and wants to avoid whatever issues with the previous coder he hired long time ago.. I bet it was an issue related to how much he had to pay.

While I don't entirely disagree on the clymenia part I don't think it's an entirely fair comparison. Clymenia games improved in stability and art with new entries. They also don't depend on their ci-en supporters nearly as much since their games already sell a lot anyways. Clymenia also has to deal with Kagura games and Steam both of which are a nightmare for JP h game devs. There was a large chunk time in that longer gap that was getting their games ready for steam.

Clymenia has a proven track record of releasing products and improving a lot of aspects. Rannero doesn't and wanted to turn his art into a game with no knowledge on what he was doing and now has to rely on patreon money.

They also don't depend on their ci-en supporters nearly as much since their games already sell a lot anyways. I believe people who support Rannero would support him even if he only made manga/comics. He could completely ignore h-game dev route... If Rannero would give up on h-game and return to only drawing stuff, people wouldn't abandon him. Everyone would only be happier.

I never said I had issues running these games my OS has had it's location set to Japan since I bought it while I was staying over there. I'm saying stability as in the code is filled with less garbage. Their games overall run better, load faster, etc. Also again there's more art, the art is better, they're working with a real publisher now which takes up more time, and they're working with steam which takes even more time still. There's really a lot that goes into game creation that you aren't taking into consideration. Publishing a game on DLSite is much easier than publishing a game on steam. Also "Works on my computer!" is meaningless don't repeat that.

I don't disagree with anything you said about rannero though. He should return to just doing comics.
