Thats one of the things that confused me, i was under the impression season 2 was well into development. Then this dropped and there is so little involved in it from the looks of it. Im just hoping that if its jusr the codex, then hopefully hopes gaming was just messing with this feature hear and there on the side and hasnt actually been spending all this time on it.

Uh, if you were under that impression that I'm assuming you haven't really checked this thread for a good long while.
Hopes, myself and people who are even decently active in the thread have been saying there will be no new story content with the steam release and it will just feature the VN mode, Codex and the Gallery.

I think I said it at least several times leading up to the Steam release lol.

And there were a lot of IRL things going on with Hopes which took him away from the much of the game's development;

Also, recently him and his girlfriend got engaged, so the whole wedding preparations as well as moving in to their own home was a thing.
So a lot of irl stuff happened.

Season 1 got released on Steam on February, and he really wasn't able to do any development for some time due to his wedding planning, and only recently the dust kinda settled.

So people really should be giving him the benefit of the doubt here.


As for how much into development is season 2; well, who knows?
But my guess is given how Hopes has been really busy with IRL stuff as well as preparing the game's season 1 for steam, it would be more plausible to think Season 2 is still kinda early in development.

The VN mode is really bad unless you have played before. It misses any context for changes between scenes, when using equipment and is confusing without linking visuals between the various scenes.

You jump from the end of a scene to a blank screen with some seemingly random choices (because you went back to your room and picked up the laptop). You therefore have no idea why things happen, things arrive automatically, though you never went through the process of ordering them, the reasons and story elements of searching for these items is lost.

Scenes jump from the end on one location to another without any intermediary explanation of where you are or were intending to go. Suddenly I'm in a town but I dont know what I'm doing here.

My advice is not play VN mode as a first playthrough - you will be baffled.

Still love the game - just not the VN mode.

Hmm, so no new update for at least 1 year.

Up to the 0.06.x updates the release time was OK. Not fast, but we had a average of 3-4 updates per year. After that we only have 1 or 2 updates per year and more like 1 updates per year. I don't blame hope for it, he always was upfront on this with us.

But for a game to have success it would need a faster and more constant update cycle. Also for that few updates per year, they are to small. Again nothing against hope, only stating my opinion why the game isn't such a success instead of all the goods it has.

Nope. You can only go east. There is no north at the entrance. East, then north or south. If you go north then it's east to a dead end.

I have been a Patreon supporter for years now, why would I care about a Steam release at all? It's more of a slap in the face for supporters I guess.
I want a continuation of the story, which has been at a complete standstill since januari 2023.
Hopefully steam sales will give some kind of impetus to the project.
