Anyone reading your comments on this would think that you can use "skip unseen" via the Ctrl button and just avoid the animations and nothing else. But that's not the case. Yes, it skips animations, but it doesn't discriminate, it skips everything and will only stop when it reaches a choice, unless you manually intervene. That is what I meant by saying it is not a solution. The problem specified was that the animations do not allow you to progress until they have run their course, so if you press space or left click, it does nothing. A regular animation would stop and move on to the next line of code, be it a static render or a line of dialogue, when you click the mouse or hit space.
The "problem" was only regarding the animations, not the entire game, but you calling "skip unseen" the solution is like giving a surgeon a sledgehammer when they ask for a scalpel. I think you are reaching a little too far in trying to debunk any criticism of this update, and sometimes you just need to accept that not everyone views it through rose-tinted glasses, and nor should they be expected to.

I do not disagree with some of your points, TonyMurray, I simply made reference of what another user posted and that is actually the only solution for VN games that do not have a custom coded screen preference in RenPy with the ability to disable AI Animations specifically. Would it be a good feature to add to Preferences in RenPy, absolutely. RenPy should add a feature like that in future updates. As I mentioned before, when having Unseen Text On and using Ctrl on PC the user has full control and can choose when to stop at a certain point manually like you said, and although it can be annoying it is an option that is available and works in RenPy.
As for what I wrote about this, I stand by it 100% percent, friend, and I also made it clear I respect other people's opinion and how people wish to experience the VN is also their own choice. To each their own. If anything, this just got blown out of proportion and clearly misunderstood, but I cannot be more clear with what I already wrote.
With that said, I rarely every use Skip Unseen, because there is no point in it unless a user has already experienced some parts of the visual novel and wishes to skip things they have already seen. As for animations, I never skip those. It is part of the story, but if some folks prefer to skip animations that is an option that is available to everyone, and perhaps the Dev should consider adding a custom coded AI Animation skip feature in Preferences.
As for debunking any criticism, there are many that love, like and enjoyed The East Block Chapter 8, which I did very much and so did many other fans and supporters, but I don't need to debunk anything. I simply shared my own experience as other do on here, and also agreed some improvements are needed. If someone doesn't like the VN's latest update that's okay and I respect that. But as I wrote previously on here, sharing constructive suggestions to help improve the VN, I am all for it and I am sure Bobby appreciates it, too, and I believe The East Block will only get better.
Either way, thank you for sharing your points and feedback on this. It is appreciated and all good, friend. Cheers!
