Yeah, my impression may be not the impression others have. My memory may be playing games on me after this long time with the breaks between the updates, so don't take everything I write at face value. I also have quite the selective memory for bad situations and much less for good/positive ones, so my perception is always a bit on the negative side of things ^^

IMHO: I have the impression that the MC is lacking a considerable degree of empathy and understanding towards people (and their choices) who can't fend/fight for themself, no matter what their (valid) reasons, past experiences or circumstances are. This borders towards a very noticable arrogancy on his part towards people who make choices he would have never done but these people could only make (because they lack power, either physical or character-wise to do any different without suffering heavy consequences). If he's given the choice he's treading the way of confrontation (while being insensitive) and not of understanding, always believing his choices are the only right ones and everyone else is lacking conviction or isn't trying hard enough (my personal impression of his character up until now).

You are generally right about Henri. He can be, on occasion, an arrogant prick. But nearly all the time, it's with people who are assholes to him or those he care about.

And generally, I think you paint a picture of him that's a little bit harsh. Sure, he has his faults, but he has some very good qualities too. Especially in a world like that. He's protective, he's generally just, he treat everyone, even commoners, with respect as long as they do the same to him. He's generous with his gold, too. He genuinely respects the right of the people, too ,and do not abuse his position. He's also pretty much incorruptible.

He also kill bad guys. Lots of them. Which there are a lot.

But yeah, he still needs to learn some, especially socially.

That it's intended I know, but there are surprisingly few to no oppositions to his ways even if he rubs people the wrong way rather obvious. Which you would expect if you have scenarios where his shortcomings show themselves. The "world" doesn't really react to it as you would expect. I can only imagine that it's because of the way society/the world views mages and men, being way more lenient than it would be good for him. To make matters worse, the people respect/fear power (like everywhere), so him having so much power causes (normal) people to rather keep their mouth shut in fear the MC could be having one of his temper tantrums. The saying "It takes a village to raise a child." exists for a reason.

The guy can incinerate you with a flick of his wrist. People are wary. And generally, the common people like him more than they fear him. Because he bring a sense of safety into their life.

When you have bands of orcs attacking your town regularly, having a guy who's going to incinerate them by the dozen, or cast a ward protecting you from their arrows, go a long way towards good will.

And I can't really say that he has temper tantrums, really. Sure, sometimes he gets overly angry, but never for no reason, at least IMHO. Of course, death of the author and all that.

And, like you said, a lot of his women idolize him right now. But then, they are still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship right now, it will change a little in the future. A lot of them are just happy to have a guy who not only has excellent genes, but also treat them well compared to the average, and will protect them no matter what.

funny thing is vanderer actually agrees with the hair not being good,but its more a technical thing(lack off choice's in the software) then a "artistic freedom" thing.

Yeah, in Honey Select, the selection of male hair is very poor. On the discord server I presented a few options, and everyone was saying that the one I selected was the...I wouldn't say the best, but the least worse choice.

They are a couple that are decent, but they are more the "pretty boy" type of haircut, and they do not go well on the MC.

Maybe it isn't the best course of action to let somebody so inexperienced roam the world stumbling from one thing into the other. It has to be a very big sensory overload after years of only meeting one to two persons în the same secluded area at the same time and not for long, before being thrown out into the world, meeting dozens of people and having one adventure after the other. Factoring everything in I give the MC about two more months before he burns out, literally and metaphorically

Yep. But they have limited choice. A guy like the MC can change the course of a whole battle by himself, he's too much of an asset. And his case his rare, the average time in the tower for a age is perhaps a couple years, not 12 or 13 years.

Besides, go tell him that he can't go out and do what he want to do after all that time, when it's his right to do so.

Sariel is starting to understand him. He's not the type of person that you can constrain, just canalize towards a productive goal. Her decision in the latest update is also a way for her to try to make him grow up a little, socially. And learn that not every problem can be resolved with a fireball. Admittedly, a lot of them can, but still...

Not the kind of you say or do if somebody praises or rewards you, but the one where you take a step back and observe, acknowledging that you lack information/experience/wisdom, ask questions to better understand and fill informational holes, let things play out until you think you can chime in without any hiccups and can contribute while seeing others eye to eye. Let somebody else take the lead if they're better suited for this specific subject, etc.

Like said above, he does respect the skills of other people. Karla for enchanting, Persus for teleportation, Asambe when it comes to weapons or Naesala for horses. He respects knowledge in all its forms, something that Athagan always insisted on.

One thing he has a hard time is when morality is in question. He's a very righteous man, to a fault sometimes, and he doesn't get that not everyone is strong enough to always make the right choice. Because for him, if something is evil, you fight it! When for the common people...it's not that easy. That can make him look down on weaker people.

While I'm not sure that I agree that all of the flaws discussed are actually flaws (or than Henri actually has them), I personally I think it's good that Henri has actual flaws. I absolutely detest when a character is essentially perfect, the typical Mary Sue (not sure if there's a male equivalent for that particular writing trope/pitfall).

Henri not being perfect means you can't always predict what's going to happen, which gives the writer better leeway to write an interesting story. It also gives him a chance to grow as a character.

So far this is pretty much my favorite VN, so I'm more than happy to give a lot of latitude to the author to let him take the story where he wants. He definitely hasn't disappointed us so far imo.

Gary Stu is the male equivalent. But yeah I agree the MC of this game is great. I love the fact that the releases of this game get me to feel genuine emotion beyond just getting horny for the hot characters. The dev excels at creating genuinely touching moments that honestly never fail to make my eyes water.
