They're mainly just an artist, who also has an actual life and job outside of it. I get waiting 9 months sucks but they never claimed consistent updates like actual scammers have. This is just a side project they wanted to try and see if it'd get enough traction.

as the other dude said, he's not a game dev milking paypigs month in month out for the update that never comes. he's an artist who happens to be dipping his toe in making games. most of the people on his patreon aren't paying for bluerock development; they're paying for the other art he posts. maybe if there's an uptick of supporters because of bluerock that will change, but for now, it's really just a side thing for his porn work, which itself is presumably a side thing for his actual, real-world work. moreover, he's been around forever posting his art various places. if he were a scam artist, that would be known by now.

If the dev wants to test if making a game brings in additional supporters, it should not progress like all the games where the devs are milking the cashcows.
I decide to support devs if i like their work and if they have a good track record (regular updates, communication is working. . . )
If i see a game i like but it does not get regular updates, dev is stalling. . . i will not spend my money.
There are simply too many devs starting a good looking game and after the initial publication there is almost no progress or constant stalling or a few single published pics to keep the supporters engaged and hopeful.
