He wrote on Subscribestar that the update is not ready yet. I only read the title, I'm not subscribed and I don't know what the post says. So if someone is subscribed if they can write what the author said.

I expected that he would not respect the times.
Who knows if this game will ever be updated.

From subscribestar:

Not ready yet

Not the update I wanted to be making on August 7th.

I expected to have time this past week and I just didn't have enough of it. No excuses, just couldn't deliver as I thought I'd be able to. It's nearly done, but not quite yet. Complaints and frustration are justified at this point, certainly.

Sorry, everyone. Just one of those weeks. You know, when I started The Good Son in a few years ago, I was without dependants and with a bit more control of my schedule. Things can change fast in life, sometimes.

It's not like it's not coming out, it's just not there yet as I head into another crazy work week. What's there is good, but it's not the 'climax is about to begin, holy shit' part yet.

While I'm here delivering bad news, I want to put a positive spin on things by giving a shout out to Atta, who's active on The Good Son Discord. For the past two years he's provided me with private folder of videos and images for use in The Good Son. He even formats the videos to 10 second segments to make for easy transfer into the game. He's a huge help and asks for nothing in return. As slow as this work is, it'd be slower without him.

I'm definitely frustrated right now, and I know I've disappointed people. I don't want to be 'one of those' developers. Please cancel your subscriptions until something comes out, if supporting me is at all a burden. I'm just a dude working on a niche game - I'm not trying to screw anyone here.

I'm really sorry about this delay. August 6th felt so doable until it wasn't.

lobster(the developer) have to rely on free days of IRL work(financial advisor), so when he misses a deadline it's not like "oh okay then a few more days he should be done", it means that he cannot work on it until he has free days usually like at least another month or two.. pack it up fellas see you in 2024

Imagine a revolutionary concept of spending an hour or two on your hobby in your free time of the day, something that surprisingly even people who work have at their disposal.

Imagine, being in a relationship where you have to go to work, often with long hours, and look after a young child. Then, imagine saying to your other half, who is the same boat why you need a bit more alone time and why she shouldn't be worried about what you are up to.

"Hi, there oh love of my life. I'd be grateful if I could have a bit of "me time" to further my hobby. I may not have said earlier, but I'm actually a semi successful write of porn games. Now, to you, it may appear that I am just going upstairs to watch hours of pornography; and you may feel even more concerned by the vast volume of that which is of a homosexual nature and wonder about our relationship as a result. Have no fear my dear, I am actually watching them with the discerning eye of a porn game producer, searching out that ever elusive, perfect 10 second clip to advance the plot.

You may query why I need to search the homosexual content but I have chosen to craft a game to my personal kinks and, as such, I'm telling the tale of a young man, forced by circumstance, to slowly acknowledge his feminine side as he then turn to prostitution and auctioning of his anal virginity to the highest bidder. All whilst secretly coming to terms with how much he likes being a woman and wants to turn into one to carry a child for his best childhood friend."

Whilst i await the update, I'm more likely to pay to see him have the conversation with his other half then play the game. I daresay, it is a little harder for him to find the spare time for his hobby than you might imagine. Not least given that, at the current time, it is very difficult to be a financial advisor.

Imagine how absolutely none of this explains why one could apparently only work on something when they have entire day(s) free, as opposed to spending shorter periods of time on the same venture. Or are we to believe that having a day free from work would mysteriously allow the person in question to avoid explaining their significant other exactly what they're doing with that spare time?

There's stupid, backward-bending excuses, and then there's this.

Look the truth is not everyone works the same and it is what it is. I have periods of time where I can't even pick up something that I enjoy doing so much just because my brain is telling me I'm just waisting important time. Ultimately it is what it is and the person who's deciding to financially back the creator has every option to stop doing so.

The only thing I'll give people is that Lobster needs to stop giving exact dates because he tends to never reach them.

I'd say things like getting burnt out (which is what we have here) are actually pretty universal and generic. While my initial comment was sarcastic, i made it because, ultimately, that's the only realistic way to get done with something that's no longer enjoyable -- that is, consistently chipping it away bit by bit despite the dislike and tedium.

Telling yourself "i'll do it all in one go when i get long enough free time" is very much just fooling oneself with an excuse not to do anything until that ideal event happens... and when (if) it happens, nothing really comes out of it, because forcing yourself to do something is equally annoying no matter if you're planning to spend an hour on it, or a dozen. And the longer breaks you take in-between, the more difficult it is to even remember what it's all about and to get back in the groove.

i'm subbed to his subscribestar, he told us in a post back in june explaining why he kept missing these deadlines
"...I had a few productive days in the second half of April and then May was generally messy at work. I'm a financial consultant in my real life, and it's a great gig but it means living at the whims of my clients. Not diverting blame, just explaining why my evenings and weekends are sometimes shot.

I also keep this hobby secret from family and friends. Not particularly embarrassed or ashamed of my fascination with gender transition, my attraction to trans women, or my love of writing (and writing smut), it's just not polite dinner conversation. So, the house must be empty for work to occur. Writing on Twine is subtle enough. Looking for the right video that involves a trans woman cumming while being penetrated... that's less subtle."

If he's really been working all this year on a couple days a month, I wouldn't count on at least a decent amount of content.

There's always going to be some attempts from MC's "rival" to seduce Todd during the beach trip. The outcome depends on how many of them you can interrupt and/or shut down -- if the rival gets high enough score Todd will leave with her, otherwise he'll be waiting for MC at the end of the day.
