I admittedly know next to nothing about the development of these games. Therefore the question: is continuing with this - by all accounts - outdated engine not risky? Can the game reach the finish line before grinding to a halt due to obsolete technology? Would it then not be better to have a clean break at the start of Chapter 3 and move over to a more current and easier to use framework?
I actually don't think, they use Playhome for everything anymore. I rather think, they exported the models and use them in VAM or something similar to make the highly detailed animations, they currently do.

The risk would be that the game itself would stop running. If it stops running, then we will have way bigger problems than The Headmaster not working because PlayHome is a unity game and I sure hope there won't be a future windows update, which kills all unity games. Apparently there are people, who knows how to take an old unity game and mix it with a more modern version of unity in order to get better support on new computers (no idea how they do that), so we should be fairly safe in that regard.

I haven't heard about that, but it wouldn't surprise me. While photo mode in Illusion Soft games can make animations, it is as the name indicates primarily a tool for making still images. VAM (which I have never tried myself, so I guess based on online sources) seems to be a better match for the task and it's being maintained. It also has an active community, unlike PlayHome, which is not only published by a now bankrupt company, the modding community died before the company.

Hmm, I think....
If the game developer had to familiarize himself with another program that was certainly still completely unknown to him, the only result would probably be that the next updates would be unnecessarily delayed by an additional 3 to 4 months.

Sure, the whole game would be perfectly pretty nice perhaps allthough build on DAZ 3d.
But tens of thousands of graphics and animations would have to be completely reworked and may be hundreds of thousands of script lines would have to be rewritten too.

You are welcome to produce this remake of the game yourself and do the work all by yourself like Altos_and_Herdone did in the early years of this game.

Besides, I wouldn't want to change the graphics from next chapter on, for many of the characters I've seen grown up fond of in the game.

So talk to Altos on his discord. It is best to discuss your change requests with him in detail.
Oh yes, you could of course achieve the greatest success if you became the highest paying patron for the game. Join as the main Patron! And all your wishes come true.

I'm enjoying this game so far, but I am stuck with what appears to be a bug: the office PC shows an email update, but when I click it says there are no emails. I am at Influence 11 and discipline 110, and I feel like that bug is probably stopping my progress.

Any idea on how to move forward?

It could be very helpful to use the quests menu "Students" inside the game to find the needed steps. ;)

DAZ is likely the by far best option, at least for still images. That is if you ignore time needed to make it. Also PlayHome is a game, hence the screens are screenshots, so real time rendered, DAZ takes a while to render. To really benefit from the ability to make better images, it would likely require the DAZ queue (a non-free addon) and let a computer with a powerful GPU render literally overnight. Given the high amount of images needed, it's possible that it would be a good idea to have a dedicated computer for the task so it can render while the work computer continues on something else. Using DAZ on a scale needed for something like this game will quickly become a much more complex task than just using screenshots from a game.

Yes I know most DAZ users don't use such advanced setups, but they also don't have the requirements of creating that many images while players are waiting for the next update.

The scripts will however not need updating. It just mentions the filenames (often png or jpg). If the new images uses the same names, then it will work out of the box.

Well, there's literally no talk of it switching to Daz, except for a couple of people who have no say in the matter and just want the game to have better quality graphics (which is subjective anyway).
Exactly! In an ideal world I would love to see this game with better graphics in DAZ. But in reality it's just an empty talk, speculation not more than that.

That's pretty much what I have been saying for years. Better images are welcome, but the workload is way beyond what is reasonable for what can be gained. I have seen multiple projects die because somebody had the idea to redo something fundamental and then the entire team started working on it, realizing it would take forever and then vanish silently. Judging by the number of downloads/patreons/forum posts, the graphics are clearly "good enough", so there isn't a dire need for an upgrade. We would rather want focus on the story moving on.

And yes no forum post has any saying in the game development. They are presumably below patreon comments, which themselves struggle to have any real influence, so people shouldn't put too much into forum posts. Posts about bugs on the forum do however have a history of resulting in bugfixes in the following release, so it's not like the forum is completely ignored.

I could see that when this game finally finishes up in a sastifying conclusion, then sure. Update to a more modern and easier to use engine for Headmaster 2: It Happened Again.

I just hope that we keep our development pace and Altos doesn't just rush to an ending and end up skipping most of the under developed stories. I've seen that happen too many times too.

This game has been in development for almost a decade. Is it near completion? I have read good things but I'm tired of playing abandoned and half finished games

That and the clothing optional beach and... well there are a number of unfinished stories we want to continue, but the two mentioned here are high on my list.

Lucy getting fucked. She stated she isn't a prostitute so naturally she will have to get paid and then she and HM will have some elaborate explanation on how that has nothing to do with prostitution and why it's not an issue for a boss-servant or teacher-student relationship.

And then she'll charge extra for anal, and my Headmaster will go broke...

This is in all honesty one of the best games on the site. And for the setting it offers. It's probably the only one that does such a good job at it. And there is TONS of content. A lot. So definitely worth it. If you're looking for full on sex with all the characters then sure wait. But there is still a lot of content
