This is one of my fav. memes, you can find more at "mangaread.org" IF you like manga/manhwa/manhua ...
I ONLY like korean manhwas cuz they are coloured, and not like those black/white mangas.
SOME chinese manhuas are ok-ish,BUT most of them insert chinese idiology,if you can ignore those stuff, some are really cool especially necromancer stories.

Didn't follow this thread for a while except posting some posts.
Was it his goal to go steam,do you have a link? thx
I'm not defending him, multiple devs tried to make it big with Steam, only to get problems after problems like licenses for songs used etc. .
So there was a bunch of people saying that there was legal trouble that had something to do with posters - what I found seemed to have nothing to do with legal issues and everything to do with wanting to put this on steam.

I used actual band posters in the bar, in Noah’s house, in Lane’s house and in the tattoo parlor.
...
In order for us to take the next steps of getting the game on Steam, we have to re-render all of the scenes with posters in them. There is no leeway here. Steam will see those posters and deny us instantly with no second attempt.

I'm currently sitting at about 1126 of the roughly 3000 images we need to redo. I'm about halfway through the update, which will be about 850 images or so.
...
So, each reworked image eats up about 4 hours time on my computer.

Nobody is forcing them to do this. This sort of thing irritates me to no end - pausing development for massive stretches of time when you're not even halfway done, all in the pursuit of more money. Thank god I never supported this one tbh, I came close a few times but held off simply because they never hit a decent release cadence.

Yeah, the main reason are the posters for which they have to render again the whole scene and I kinda wish that they would compromise quality and just use Photoshop on those posters or something.

Because the way it is right now while the game's not abandoned with all they have to redo I could see them spend most of the next year on this only to release pretty much the same content we currently have, that won't end well for their sub count.

I mean, leaving the posters while putting this game on steam would potentially have opened them up for legal trouble. Technically they could be problematic even without going to steam, but definitely once you start charging money for the product, you stop being able to use copyrighted material in your game without lincense. Which is why they say that Steam would have denied the game with those posters on, because they don't want to risk being liable for that shit.

Steam would likely reject the submission if they noticed the posters. (And they are extra cautious with adult game approvals.)
not extra cautious, adult games have to actually go through a human approval system, and they instantly perma ban anything which can be seen as sexualisation off a minor.

and no they don't subscribe to that "but she's a 100 year old elf" narrative.. she looks like a underaged girl compared to our IRL norms and she's in a sexual situation? boom perma ban,no appeal allowed.

Trying to get an AVN on Steam is usually a disaster and often ends up with the game fucked up, unless the dev makes 2 different versions as has been done with The Assistant. Then there's a good normal version and a bad Steam version.

I call what you wrote "extra caution". Not sure why you said "not extra cautious."

i guess i misinterpreted you badly then, because plenty off porn games get through evaluation along side extreme violence etc.

i don't believe AVN's or pornographic orientated content games get extra attention in the review process.
best example would be kinda recent actually i don't remember the game name but it was a indie thriller featuring nudity on some farm.
apparently the game had a scene where a child visited the farm with his family ,and just that combination off nudity with a minor resulted in a denial off steam release with no appeal...

if i remember correctly i came across the story from a video on youtube from "bellular news"

Bellular News is a good source. I know avn devs who have said their reviews take longer (on average) than they've expected based on anecdotes from makes of non-adult games saying the average time it takes to be reviewed by Steam. I've never heard a dev say their review was as fast or faster than their expectation based on the research they'd done.

Tell me about it. I'm still mad about Hot Sand of Antartica being abandoned and never getting more content with the twins.
Lol... this made me laugh... one of the worst AVNs out there but props for the dev sticking it out for as long as they did. I mean they named places with original names like "Rotten Town" which is run by Skull. The MC finds mysterious sisters who were captured by dudes named Monkey and Hog and both of those women drop trow in the first 5 minutes of meeting them... Not to mention the whole place was orginally covered in ice but now it's covered in ruins. Where the hell did those come from... lol. Mensa level writting there.

Sorry, did not mean to bust on you. We all like what we like and I am glad you got some enjoyment out of it, but your post really did make me laugh.
