VN Ren'Py Completed The Interim Domain [v0.31.0] [ILSProductions]

My lord this is already an extremely long game. I've got up to around 6 stories in with most of the LIs, and I've been keeping a notes document on what happens so I can skim through it if I come back in a while. That document is now 7,500 words long. And I know it might get close to doubling in length by the time I finish all the content.

The narrative and progression with the LIs is so slow. Slower than anything else I've played. And it's so loveless and lonely. The mc certainly doesn't feel anything close to love for any of the LIs yet, and given the situation and the fact that he is still in love with Allison, I doubt he ever will. Just like the Interim is a facsimile for the benefit of those who occupy it, the relationships in this game are fascimiles of romance, which I suppose could be taken as a meta-commentary on AVNs, but just leaves you feeling empty.

The premise is very unique and world-building is intriguing, but I wonder if this would've been better suited as a novel than an AVN.

Do you think I should keep pushing on?

Also the Selene music is a bop.

If you're not liking it, then don't continue! However I like this VN and agree with what PaxHadrian17 said.

I also don't feel like the romances are hollow. I feel like some real connections are being made and explored. I doubt that most of the LI ghosts will stay totally unaware of being ghosts the whole game, but that's just my guess.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this game updates regularly. Very few developers are this reliable. A lot of games get abandoned or slow down, but I expect this one will be completed on a regular schedule, just like Now and Then. So after you get caught up, you'll have a new update almost every month to enjoy.

Good through action

The MC tries to do good by others, but he also recognizes that he needs to be actively involved in the lives of others to have that effect.

I have two ways of it, the simple is either: Love/Lust
Our Aura is Pink, (I know its a porn game but) we are very good at getting women to lust over us and the MC generally does good.
The more complicated is: Connection
We have a natural ability to form connection, and that isn't just the Souls, that includes our own Entende, others Entende, and (unless she is playing us) another Archon.
That is why Ifuma is such a threat, he hates connections and has no emotions.

Theyre almost based in "Realism", the dev understands society very well. From his first game where the discussion of Incest happens, to this game where it follows heavy themes and isn't afraid of questioning them/ making the characters question them. Plus the Mc's generally are a little older and very mature

The Dev is in their late 30's early 40's. Their MC's in both their games are older. I think the MC and the Dev have a good grasp on reality that comes with age (being almost 50 myself).

I am not anywhere near that, but I usually prefer more grounded and emotionally mature MC'S, the scene with Apollyo, cemented how I absolutely adore the MC. Plus any MC who can admit their faults and desires without sounding like a fucking Teenage horndog is A+ in my book.

The scene with Apollyon - What is it to be human... -- it's one of my favorite scenes in both The Interim Domain and Now and Then.

It fits the story, helps define why Apollyon failed in her 'relationship' with Edd, gives her depth as an Entende and even sets up the possibility that one or more Entende may decide to join their favorite Archon in the new world if they can find a way to defeat Ifuma.

She is also involved in some of the humorous scenes in TID like the following with Selene:









Here is a Being eternal asking the MC if the response 'Bitch' is the appropriate human term for the snark she is getting from Selene - which makes her more human in my eyes.

This is great story telling - adding more and more humanity to a small pocket universe called The Interim Domain, which contains all that is left of our world in a living moment of what is both the end, and the beginning, of Time.

I think connection makes a lot of sense. MC is great at connecting with people, which is interesting because he had a difficult time connecting with Allison while alive. I wonder if MC's precept helps him make connections now.

It's mentioned several times that Archons are given a little extra advantage in the Interim Domain over what they had in their lives previously. I'm not sure if it's his precept as much as his position as Archon of that precept.

Could be, we had talked about stuff from when he and I were kids, so I didn't know their exact age. I thought he was a few years younger than me - but hey - I don't know him and I live 6000 miles away from him.

I am a little worried that the dev is setting her up to be killed by Ifuma.

Her calling Selene a bitch is absolutely hilarious.

She failed her relationship with Edd, but I really do hope an Entende can become another Archons Entende. I wonder if that is possible? Having 2 Entende's working for you. We know Edd was approached by another one who tried to persuade him so perchance?

I'm curious if Mira and Apollyon come to an understanding that they can share the MC.

They are both influenced by him, and he treats them as friends, caring and worrying about them - something unexpected in their experience.

I also think the MC shines even brighter when Apollyon and Mira compare him to the other 3 Archons.

Mira has the Allison persona that both gives her perspective and influences her.

Apollyon has a different perspective and hers may be even more genuine, in that it is not influenced by being paired with a human persona as Mira is.

Here, she is checking on Mira and risking being vulnerable in the Sanctuary of an Archon - except that she Knows that she is not in any danger here. Given the way Archons from different precepts don't usually mix, the influence of the MC on Apollyon is even more pronounced.







Apollyon has changed due to her interactions with the MC, adopting more of his mannerisms - his caring and concern.

Could the unusual ending of the prior cycle become an experiment for the Ur-Entende?

They choose what precepts are represented by Archons and which Entende pairs with each Archon.

For all powerful, eternal beings, would the small goings on of Apollyon, Mira and the MC be of interest or entertainment - something to push the ennui of Forever away for a time?

Perhaps Apollyon, who is risking being unmade for millenia or longer by helping the MC, gets to choose between being unmade or becoming Human for the next cycle and 'Forced' to live a much more limited existence.

I think Apollyon would choose becoming Human.

Imagine the MC in a new cycle, at a Mardi Gras type celebration, and a tap on the shoulder results in the MC seeing:



"Buy a lady a drink?" says Apollyon, who - with a nod to Mira/Allison seen over the MC's shoulder, continues with "I'm looking forward to catching up with you ... and continuing my lessons."

I wonder how the Entende will compare towards the other love interests, because at some point we will have to send the others away, and that would leave oly the Archons and Entende.

I also wonder how long this game will be? We are already seeing more and more of Remnants.
