Do you have a summary of the story? Because so much time has passed that I forgot, I only remember that it is very confusing.

I felt the same way too but I see where the Dev is going.
Xue seemed to be insecure about having a dick and tried to be aggressive towards women to try and compensate, that's why she kept bragging/lying to the MC, which leads to one of two paths the MC doesn't put up with it and that's how you get the sub path, the MC turns out to be a pushover and Xue makes it after faking it lol, I think its safe to say most of us dom Xue fans were expecting to see her keep trying to assert more and more dominance against the MC and have the MC cave-in for her, so we expected her to just take what she wanted from the MC during that office scene, and were disappointed to see her go soft.
That's because the Dev -I think- Was seeing the relationship from a different perspective from the start, he already envisioned Xue and the MC becoming lovers regardless of who's dom/sub, so what seemed to us to be a sudden change in personality for Xue, was always the plan, Xue was meant to be a soft dom. Of course, Xue being aggressive with the MC wouldn't mean she doesn't love her, just wanted to point out that you can have it both ways, a more Dominant Xue would be more possessive instead of lovey-dovey.
What could remedy this, in my opinion, is splitting the Xue dom routes into two routes, "Hard Dom" and "Soft Dom", the split should be exactly during that office scene, and the MC would have the pivotal choice to either stop Xue and start the soft dom route (aka the current Xue dom), or let her have her way (start the Hard dom route).
The downside to this is of course more work to do for the dev depending on how far the routes would go, the one argument I would give in favor of this is that Xue and Xue's dom route seems to be very popular if not the most popular one, so it might not be exactly a waste of time, and I'm obviously biased so take my word with a grain of salt lol.
