Finally someone who get's it. Bros before Hos.

Until a new readhead Li's route opens. Then it's every man for himself. #baitpost
Hmm.. I totally disagree. My philosophy is: "Me before thee." When it comes to women, if my best friend, brother, neighbor, doesn't matter who, if I want her, I'm taking her. So, any game that has netori gets more points than any other.

I'm...

Well this is the first AVN I've ever played that's made me cry, and I'm really not the kind of person that cries easily. I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I've cried in my 29 years.

(I've also played literally literally hundreds of AVNs)

Chapter 4 - Progress update #3

1759473159045.png
All animations have now been rendered, edited and transferred to video format for testing. As always, there is room for improvement, but I am satisfied overall and will take these learnings with me to the next chapter. The only thing missing now are the sound effects. Once those are added, I will have finished everything related to animations for this year/until the next chapter.

Regarding the music, I have selected various tracks for each label and scene changes within them. Most of the work is done here as well. What remains is normalizing (sound level), reformatting and integrating them into the code, which I will do when editing each finished label from now on.

The static renders are still going as usual, and there are now just over 600 of them. Except for the huge labels 2–3 (Lisa's labels, for those who are interested), I'm not expecting anything unusual. I just have to go through them one by one. Currently, I'm focusing on the smaller labels, then moving on to the ones that will take over a week to complete.

That's it for this time. Until next week.

Just a question. Love the title, got Chapter 3 and started a new game with the Walkthrough turned on. Now I'm wondering if this guide is telling me, irrespective of all of the content available, that the decision which will determine a good ending or bad ending comes down to whether I thank my mother in the graveyard or not?

Even without the Bad Ending there is no reason to be an asshole

I'll take your judgement of my personal character under advisement.

(btw... you don't need a reason to be an asshole)

I think this was said about the MC's behavior, not about you personally :)
The MC has a choice: to be rude to everyone around him, including his mother. Even his harsh responses, sometimes well-deserved by those around him, as with Haley or Lisa during their first contact, still come across as destructive behavior on the part of the MC and is unlikely to serve him right.

I'm of two minds about the mother. I make it a point to thank her at the graveyard, but I don't reach out for the DNA test.
I don't see not asking for help as destructive behavior. This is also reinforced by the timeline. When contacting the mother, she asks the MC to stall the test so she can do the background checks. But when not calling her, the test still happens in the same delayed timeframe, and there isn't any unique dialogue either.

Yeah, I'm mostly talking about the graveyard conversations. I don't think it'll do the MC any good to continue hating Claire, especially after he found out Ella was in contact with her and was trying to let her be at least a little bit of a part of the family.

Although, with jPk you'll never know. It could be another plot against the MC, and Ella was the part of it. :Kappa:

Haha! I very much doubt he'll tarnish her memory like that, but you never know.
If I remember right, Ella was very open about wanting Claire to be part of the family, so there were no shenanigans there. She did it in a way that still respected the MC's feelings about his mother, and she didn't try to brute-force it.

A bit off-topic: I'm slightly bothered with needing to play all paths to learn things that the MC knows. I like and dislike it at the same time. This kind of exposition is a great use of "show, don't tell," but it also puts the player at a disadvantage. For instance, when the question comes up to ask for help involving the test, we have no idea who his mother really is and what she's occupying herself with. When playing this scene for the first time, I was thinking that his mother was retired, maybe living large from a divorce settlement. A bit more exposition could've helped here; for instance, about Maddy's grave, someone could remark, "I think you need to cut her some slack; she could be earning millions in the time she spends at the graveyard. Doesn't that prove she wants to be there?"
