In real life it's commom among adoptees. In cases of great secrecy and lies, There is a conspiracy to hide that they were adopted as besides parents, also older siblings and relatives know and won't tell. Some of the parents take the decision of telling but fearfull of the reactions, they postpone until a fixed age or moment in the future. For their convenience, in that moment some life event works as another reason for postpone even more until a moment where they decide to keep like that. When they find out for some reason, it's CHAOS. Trust, love, everything is destroyed in the entire family. There are individuals that ten years later, or even more, are yet to contact their relatives. So the situation of postponing the reveal about one's origins is very commom in real life and the mechanism is the same. What is not the same is a fast reconciliation, it's unrealistic when adults finally figures out. They would not going out hitting the girls, either.noble, yeah maybe at the start when they first said, kids are too young lets not tell them about the templars yet, for their safety. then when the kids were older and they decided to postpone, that was for the parents benefit, because telling the truth was hard. after the first time and every moment after they decides to wait, it was out of self interest, nothing more. whats that phrase about the road to hell being paved with good intentions.
im all for MC thus players having the option to forgive or not, but the intent you keep citing to justify your choice doesnt really hold.
