i checked whether this game was abandoned literally 2 days ago and thought my suspicions had been confirmed since it had been MONTHS since a last patreon or community update let alone a release, lo and behold a new update

Please note that the recipes have to be followed exactly in the order listed. If it asked for mushrooms, penis plant, and blackpowder and you gave it penis plant, blackpowder, and mushrooms, it will fail

Are you guys aware of the in-game hint system? To use the hint system:

1. Make sure you have read the book that has the recipe in it
2. Click on the diary and find the page that corresponds to the book/note.
3. If you have got a failure scene (explosion/water explosion) at least 3 times then a hint button will appear in the diary page
4. Click and you get a hint. (your failure count will go back to 0, so you will need to fail 3 times again before you can get another hint.

This only works for recipe's found in books.

Something I'm curious about: Do the odd seeds disappear after a few uses? One potion I need to brew needs it, but I no longer see any seeds by the painting.

It shouldn't. Double check by running your mouse just a little bit higher than the top edge of the painting's frame. If you still can't find it please post a screenshot with the top of the frame in view please.

So before seeing this reply I decided to restart my game and see if that fixed the issue. Turns out it did, I can't get the seed to disappear again, even after doing all the recipes that required it though. Not sure what caused that problem in the first place.
