if development is paused, possibly indefinitely, shouldn't he also stop taking payments on patreon as well?

No one forces patreons to throw money at whoever they please. Up to them.
As far as I know he did pause all payments, on both Patreon, Subscribestar and itch, when his kid god sick the first time, and hasn't resumed them since. If you signup, you will most likely be charge a onetime payment, but this is down to the way those platforms works. It's not something the account owner can change.
I do have to say, the idea of a gas leak making women reluctantly do what guys tell them, and guys lording it over them sadistically and treating them like property is so hot, I hope he gets a chance to finish it, or somebody makes another game with similar themes that's this well done, because I really liked it. Depresses me when I think about it.
I was just replaying this a bit the other day and it reminded me how much I liked this game. In my opinion, this was the best game on the site. I loved how the women resist and we don’t have any of the “they start to love it” nonsense that other porn games do. It’s just a game where you manipulate, coerce, and force them to do what you want and they hate you for it.

The game description pretty well describes what kind of game it is. So I stand by my question. Why on earth would OP play this game, where there are so many other that has all his preferred and none of his hate tags.

Guy sees 3/7 liked tags and 0/2 disliked tags. Curiosity drives him to try out the game. Finds 6/7 liked tags, 0/2 disliked tags. The only thing missing for now, is pregnancy.
Description describes the main character as a corrupt bastard who abuses the women he has complete control over. Doesn't discount any preferred tags or imply either of the hated tags.

I don't think the dev coming back, is there anyone trying to continue this or remake it. I'll definitely support that.
The only reason this game has any sort of value for me is because of the redhead (it has been so much time since i played that i fordot her name). She has one of the sexies boddies in any game that i have played.
