It can from what I've read, if you want to do a deep dive, just Google/Bing the name.
You will see it can be dangerous and as you can see on the A/V threads on Reddit be the worst pita false positive possible.
You can also use something like this and have more control of what access's the internet.

In sandboxie I have it so anything running in the sandbox can't connect to the internet. Would that be enough?

I read a few pages back coz of the commotion and I believe it's something urgent.
Question, is this game safe to download as of this time? Has there been a remedy already to the situation or should we hold off for a bit until the f95 team sort this threat out or at least get a non-virus copy of the latest game?

The links have been udpated to a clean version so it is safe to download now. If you want to be extra safe, you can download a sandbox software and run the game from there.
I did a full scan with Windows Defender and it said 0 threats detected but my PC restarted randomly, am I just being paranoid or is my PC still infected?

Download malwarebytes or bitdefender and do a full scan with one of those.

More than likely, the next logical step though is to make it effect save files, as there have been instances of infected save files.

Well if save files can also be infected, that kind of defeats the purpose of using it since I can't use the saves outside of the sandbox. I guess I will just have to wait a few days after a game is posted before I download it and see if no one has reported any infections.

I think you mis-understand me.
This I mean is by downloading someone else's saves, this is why the token/security system was implemented in newer versions of Ren'Py. As save files are software.

Hey guys, 2 things, is there a better way to search for things like keywords in f95 than just the search bar? And second, I have a realm ch 2 save and whenever i try importing it to ch3 it says error, I did use mods, is that the problem, and if so should i just speedrun without mods?

Yes. My compression was fine.
Only the Win/Linux link in the Game post at the time thats written was infected.
I ran the game and found the bin folder, I deleted both within 10 minutes, ran a full scan with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes, nothing detected. So, I am good?

not everyone is familiar whit using VM'sJust use a VM O.O
also people are lazy , the extra layer off security is nice but for someone who doesn't know how to use VM it would take to much effort and they'd just wait for the green light from other users that its safe

From former replies and information I think you are good, it seems that the game has to be connected over a longer period of time (10min+) to be able to harm your system. I did the same run it, saw the bin file and immediately closed the exe and deleted everything from the program including the bin folder and just to be on the safe side run a scan on my PC.
And yes the current links are safe, already downloaded the last version of the game.
