I also run a high-end MAC and noticed this crazy (annoying) load time as well. Anytime we change rooms, map locations etc...there is a 8-11 second pause of black screen EVERY time. Super annoying. Not his PC. Game.

Doing some testing on a relatively high end desktop (i7 7700k, RTX2080) while running the game from HDD
First time load times around 3-8 sec, with subsequent "slow" loading scenes taking 2-3 seconds to load on the 2nd time around (aka cached loads)

And a worse case scenario of loading all 53 scenes in quick succession (without cached loads) taking a total of 170 seconds, so a average of 3.2 seconds per scene, with the limiting factor here being drive read speed.
Using a RAMDisk for the same test it's able to load all 53 scenes in 50 seconds flat, making for a average of 0.95 second per scene load.
(these tests do not take into account fade out/in but rather load the next scene as soon as the current scene has been fully loaded)

It certainly could use optimization, every scene change loads the entire scene and with it all the models that are used in it.
However i don't foresee the load times getting better anytime soon, probably rather worse as more content is added and it would take nearly a rewrite to get away from the current system.

With decent specs its still quite playable though.
And it seems depending on the bottleneck, running it from a RAMDisk could significantly improve load times.

Anyone else have trouble in .30 with getting Rebecca to interrupt with Kira? It says it's 50% to go to shower or have her come in but i've tried nearly 15 times and it always goes to shower. this is like it used to be with getting Janice to visit

Quit & Save before doing it, then quit and load every time it doesn't trigger.
Yes, it's long, laborious , boring and frustrating, but it's that or try the normal way at the next opportunity.

The Janice visiting has, since 0.29, a way for the player to force her visiting that night - Hypno during exercise and "Become a Cow" option. Lots of things in the game need something like this due to how many events are only on a percentage chance to trigger without any way to increase the percentage in favour of one event over another.

Hi all, I started a new game with the release of 0.30 and I'm stuck on step 57. No matter how many times I quit and load, I have never seen Billy at the pool between 15:00 and 18:00. This is important because I simply don't have enough cash to buy supplies without Billy paying me for favors. ;-)

I think I have completed every single step and Billy has no new dialog for me after school. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Try just forwarding an hour, don't quit and restart the game, normally that doesn't work. Billy's appearance is a random thing. You'll just have try each day until he appears.

How do you catch Kira in the locker room? I have 0 score with her and can't progress. I can hear someone taking a shower but can't do anything about it and waiting an hour does nothing.

She'll appear at random times, best advice like I gave others is to be in the room and forward an hour at a time.
or best thing, go to locker room, if she's not there, go to the hallway forward an hour and return to the locker room
and repeat until she appears.

I've done that for four or five weeks in a row. It must be a very, very, very rare event which is pretty odd since you need it to progress.

EDIT: Used the save game editor to trigger it which worked.

Next question. After Billy has made it known he knew it was Janice at the beach, the cosplay option is no longer available. What did I miss? How do I progress? The walkthrough mentions he should approach at school because Janice is ignoring him. Doesn't happen.

I wonder why this game isn't bundled with the savegame editor...

because you could easily break the game if you change the wrong thing

Thank you, that worked. I arrived at the pool at 16:00 and fast forward two hours to 18:00 and Billy appears. I guess I expected him to show up at the same time as Janice but he appears by himself over the hedge.
