Things you're tired of seeing in a game?

I don't care about models or aesthetics so much. I find big dicks and huge breasts off putting but I have grown used to it if I care about the rest.

In my case, in no particular order.

- Slow burn. What a pain... people cheat, have one night stands all the time.
- Disjointed sex. They fuck and nothing happens, or them fucking has no consequences in the story.
- Boring sex choreography.
- Sexual acts order (hj, bj, fuck, anal). This is very typical in Japanese games.
- Plain characters. They can be literally removed from the game and nothing happens.
- Developers adding new / plain characters mid story to repeat the cycle of plain interactions.
- Sex being too explicit or very long just because.
- Characters turning into sex addicts too fast, sometimes after a single interaction.

Finally, one thing that bothers me quite a bit is games not ending on a high note but dragging on until it gets boring and eventually abandoned. I know, I know. We are talking about developers livelihood. They are not going to give up a successful project to risk creating a new one. But it's a pity seeing so many good games go on, and on until they lose interest. Fairly enough, that happens in all medias where most money is done during the journey.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but developers attempting to sneak their foot fetish into a game that otherwise doesn't have it. I'm not going to buy for a single second that the image of the lady's feet being the foreground so often is mere coincidence.
Man, I'm a dude with a foot fetish, and that drives me nuts. Foot fetish is a broad spectrum of things. There's a lot of ways to subtly insert your fix without it being blatantly obvious. It just takes a bit more work with character poses and developing personalities of said characters.

This leads to one of my biggest pet peeves in games here: fetish stuffing. The more tags a game has, usually the worse off it winds up at actually representing those fetishes, because they were added for the tag, to get more hits for the devs Patreon, not for the love of the fetish.

This is rather easily seen by games that have one-off scenes of a particular fetish, that usually are just the "big thing." It seems to be more common with tags like footjob and exhibitionism, though I'd wager people into other kinks could point out other blatant examples too. What makes them so obvious is a complete lack of development into the fetish. No lead-up, no exploration, just a sudden "insert kink here" scene that's just as swiftly forgotten by the dev after that. Box checked, tag applied, move on.

It's a multi-faceted problem, driven as much by devs with no understanding of, or research into, kinks, as it is by random community members. People find a character they like, then campaign to get devs to add their personal kink to characters that aren't written to support that particular kink. Devs oblige because there just might be a buck there, attached to the tag they can now slap on the game, and the cycle repeats.

Unfortunately, the only fix to this comes from the devs themselves, and is a tall ask for porn games in general. Devs need to write their characters to have their own personality that incorporates tropes, not the other way around, then explore them in a manner that allows natural development of those tropes. They also have to resist the urge to just try to add as many tags as possible to get search hits, and firmly shut down people trying to get their personal kinks shoved into a character that doesn't suit the kink.

It so happens that this also helps with a lot of other things seen here, such as MCs that are perfect, or wallflowers, or defined by their horse cocks, female characters that are just holes to be fucked, or literally forgive any transgression because the MC said "sorry," etc, etc.

Edit: Forgot to link https://f95zone.to/threads/nothing-is-forever-v0-4-1-mrsilverlust.87506/

Nothing is Forever is a great example of actually exploring fetishes with characters that have personalities. Some characters still need work, and the male supporting cast is rather weak, but several of the LIs are very well-developed. The MC is also a proper character too, with his own problems and past. What's more surprising is it manages this with a fairly diverse array of kinks on top of everything else. Well worth a look, even if it's not up your alley, for an idea of how to write porn into characters well.

Long ass dialogue and exposition of normal ass topics. I love good dialogue and the opening scene of Inglorious Bastards is probably one of my favorite all time scenes. I was blown away by that episode of Bojack Horseman which was essentially a 30 minute monologue.

But for these games, it sucks all life out of me. I played one game where all the characters sat around the dinner table and took turns dumping out their whole life story for 30 minutes. I doubt many of us are great writers so it feels like a chore reading through it.

I've probably gone to the other end of the extreme here and just skip/rush through any dialogue in my game that doesn't directly add to the sexual tension or a good laugh.

Just about always avoid games with the following:

1. futa/trans/gay/lesbian (anything LGBT-whatever)
2. urination, feces, farting, squirting (anything that's just gross like that)
3. female or multiple protagonist (no option to just play as a straight dude)
4. black protagonist (no option to just play as a straight dude and not a black one)
5. Boring, perfect, carbon copy barbie models (I want varied looks, all shapes, sizes, and ages)
6. Cartoon/goofy or comical looking models (want more realistic looking models)
7. jap anime looking models (they're just boring - again, want more realistic looking models)
8. Text based games (no thanks, definitely want good visuals)
9. Sandbox (hate clicking aimlessly on rooms or locations or grinding the same crap or having to read a guide)
10. Combat or mini games (just want to make choices and watch what happens)
11. Ugly facial expressions ('nuff said)
12. Old school rpg look (don't want to feel like I'm playing the first zelda or something)
13. Managing resources (heck with all that, unless there are cheats to avoid it)
14. Almost zero content or very little given on updates ('nuff said)
15. No real choices (don't want to feel like the same things happen regardless of what I do)
16. No sexual content ('nuff said)
17. Way too much dialogue ('nuff said)
18. Totally unrealistic looking cumshots (just ughh)
19. NTR (don't care to see it)
20. That split reality, time traveling, or futuristic space crap (it can be Ok but is rarely good)

Could probably think of more, but that's about it...

Depending on game engine theres a trend in html games in particular that the screen UI, pictures and text don't fit the screen and you always have to scroll down to see the rest of the bits.
They could fit everything relevant on the screen at once but they don't, so you have this passive annoyance every single new screen. Click to move on, scroll down. Click to move on, scroll down. Every fucking time.

NTR where there is no option to fast track it, undermine it or avenge it in a non-VN. If I don't feel like I have agency over it and it is inevitable it doesn't feel as compelling. Using different grades of degradation in NTR wouldn't be as bad either, like not completing forgetting the MC and completely flipping into a new person as if the old personality was obliterated. Leave levels of completely stolen to sharing to indecision on the LI's part and between.

Incest where there is no reason for it beyond just being a tag. If going for incest, it should be like NTR in that there should be some backstory developed over time and a feeling that this person is supposed to be off limits not just a person with a random designation.

Sandbox games where there is no real sandbox elements and there is an obvious path and obvious dead ends.

Antagonists with the most shallow or simple motivation and/or goal for opposing the MC except for that is the roles they have and must follow.

Well technically, if you cross out everything he listed, you can still play a Visual Novel, incest, harem with a white male protagonist and no male competition to avoid NTR.

So basically most of the very successful game here.

One thing that pushes me out of 3D games is skintight clothing. Can't take it seriously when anything but lingerie, swimsuit and latex is almost part of the character's body

Guy that is basically a walking penis somehow gets to bonk a lesbian who magically starts liking dick.
Granted, not many games do this but when they do, I lose my shit over it.

Fake Sandboxes in VNs
Non-anime games that feel like anime games
All males but the MC being jackasses
MCs who wear shorts.

Last one is absolutely disgusting. Those of you who've done this should repent your sins but I doubt even God would forgive such a repugnant choice and will promptly send you to Super Hell.

4. black protagonist (no option to just play as a straight due and not a black one)\
Where? Not here because the majority of the games with male protagonists here star Caucasian guys.
