I've mentioned this before, but I'll clarify it here to avoid further questions on this topic. At the beginning, the hypnosis, particularly the MC's hypnosis, is weak, making it risky to use. Hence, the emphasis on evoking emotional reactions, as it hampers logical thinking and increases the likelihood of successful hypnosis. It's also established in the game that with repeated use, the power of hypnosis grows, reducing the risk of failure. No thats just getting a different scene. I'm talking about moving the storyline forward via hypnosis. Right now it just unlocks alternate scenes. But Tessa is a prime example. You could try to use hypnosis and fail or just talk to her and succeed. Hypnosis is actually more difficult to do and largely a waste of time.
The whole point of hypnosis is that its a shortcut to get what you want. Why else manipulate someone's mind for no true gain?
On the other hand, not using hypnosis might seem like a consistently successful choice because the MC always has persuasive strategies. However, if there's no time for preparation or the other person can't be easily convinced, then hypnosis becomes a more potent option compared to traditional persuasion.
